Why is my ping so high in some servers?? Some I am at 50 and other between 100-150. I have high speed telephone internet, 1gig ram 2 after today, 3 gig 64 bit processor x850 pro vid card etc etc.. I have been boooted from servers because of my ping, Help please. I have checked for viruses and spy ware and have no firewall execept windows one. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes things happen out on the internet that are out of your control as far as latency (ping) goes. A router out there could be acting up.
I recommend that if you think you're having latency issues, download Ping Plotter at http://www.pingplotter.com and do a trace route to the server you think you're having issues with and see if there is a particular hop that is giving you problems (either huge packet loss or ping spike). You can look up the contact info for that machine and send them an e-mail informing them of the problem.
If the problem appears to be closer to home and may even be your ISP, then feel free to contact them if you feel that there is a problem. -

You can also try www.dslreports.com and run a line quality test. This will show your ISP has any crappy routers along the way. My Eastcoast routes go through a crappy router in NY and cause packet loss. My Westcoast routes do not. I'm on the Eastcoast also.Comment

Right now the in-game browser is pretty much useless. v1.03 promises to fix this issue and report accurate, reliable pings. Until then, just find servers you know are close and have a good ping.Comment
