BF2 crashing to desktop??

hi guys, i bought bf2 about a week ago, the game loads up i play for around 3 minutes then it flicks off and i am back staring at my desktop(very frustrating!!) can anyone please give me any advice, i have tried diffrent ram and different graphix card, it isnt a heat problem all drivers and bios updated, my specs are -

AMD Athlon XP 3000
ASUS A7N8X-X
1 GiG 3200 ddr RAM
Nvidia 6600GT


also tried these and it still happens -
1 GiG 2700 ddr RAM
FX5700 ultra

I/O problems and driver conflicts usually cause this to happen. To resolve I/O problems and to ensure you have a stable system, reinstall the motherboard chipset dirvers.

Likewise, old, mismatched or corrupted video and sound driver cause the same crash to desktop. I would uninstall and then reinstall the latest drivers for each.

Finally, navigate to the following folder and delete the entries with the numbers so you can clear your cache and allow your new drivers to properly load.

C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Lastly, defragment the HD and hope this worked. :)
