A little advice for chopper pilots on Clean Sweep

USMC Chopper pilots PLEASE don't hover over the runway at the US main

I really hate flying to the US main to reload because about 90% of the time someone is hovering over the runway or they fly right in front of me when i'm flying the jet I'm sorry if i TK you i don't mean to it was your pilots fault for hovering over an active runway

i realize i should use the other runway but sometimes i just can't get to it and the north runway is the best option when i'm being chased by another jet

it's just like big red skulls nobody will pay attention but i have to vent my frustration after i went -20 in the first few minutes of a match last night for ramming a BH full of people god knows i didn't mean to but i still got punished and called a noob

Why do you tk them? It isnt that hard not to. The map is big and if you aren't a good enough pilot to not hit "the needle in the haystack", then don't fly. It isn't their fault, it is yours.

you obviously don't know what the hell you're talking about nor did you even read my post

There is only 1 place i can re-arm/repair thats the US main at the runways and the chopper pilots like to use the runways as a direct route to get out of the base so sometimes when i'm coming to reload someone will just fly in front of me or be hovering over the runway

I'm not saying i'm the greatest pilot on the contrary but there's no way i can improve if i don't get in and actually fly

why did you feel the need to flame me all i'm doing is trying to avoid TKs whats wrong with that

Not necessarily. Ive had this happen to me, Ive seen them on the mnimap and I try to go under them. The problem is you cant tell what altitude the BHs are at until you hit them or get lucky and pull up in time. Its not really anyones fault, its just a case of miscommunication.

Thank Dice for brilliantly positioning the helipads so close to the runways, just like real life!

Also thank Dice for slapping a runway behind Kubra Dam, a runway that points directly into the dam. And also thank them for putting an antenna pole at the end of the runway to help the pilots get ammo and land for repairs. Brilliant!


Seriously what the hell were they thinking?? The MEC runway should be out in the desert like the USMC one is, not only is it far more realistic (and it would have been a lot cooler if you ask me) but it makes a lot more sense and keeps air traffic where it should be - in an uncluttered environment. Cramming into the bottom near the Dam makes absolutely no sense and doesn't make the game anymore fun, I always think of it as being the "stupid" map, as in "ridiculously unrealistic" and outrageous.

I don't understand the logic behind cramming everything together with a million static objects on a lot of the maps, there's absolutely no reason for it. There is no need to have the helipads that close to the runways on Clean Sweep, nor is there a reason for all the damn trees that line the runway.

Gah! No wonder a lot of people hate the maps in BF2!

Anyways, I'd avoid using the chopper runway, instead use the one where the F18 should be. I know tons of noob fags who will C4 the runway so if you make a low pass for repairs they'll C4 you and take your jet.

about operation clean sweep, if you want to reload, you can use the landing strip next to the landing strip where you take off, the choppers are on the other one so you won't crash into them

I usually do use the empty strip but sometimes it's not possible and i use the busy one I rarely hit anyone but that 1 time you ram a loaded BH and get all those TKs will ruin your day

Usually there are 2 runways, both re-arm and repair. So just use the other one.

I thought the advice will be something like:

"Cobra pilots, please wait for BH when you take off and FOLLOW it" (as they usually take the left route towards the MEC airstrip).

This way you can engage Mi-28 which, in 99% of cases, arrives at position between airstrip and USMC base, looking for BHs and easy kills.

In all these months, I have seen only once (aside from me flying it) a Cobra pilot actually following BH and providing cover.

I had gunners bitching at me because I wasn't going "into fight" (they like to go to top-left MEC base and get shot by whole MEC army + AA site waiting). And when Mi-28 appeared, they didn't know TV missiles existed in choppers. Love those gunners.

If you provide cover for BH while it's heading towards MEC airstrip or the base next to it, there is big chance they'll take that flag and things will be easier for USMC from that point on.

And I hope the next patch will finally let us see people PARACHUTING from BH onto the flag, as opposed to sit&wait above the flag just to be shot down in a group. I've seen group parachuting onto flag maybe twice so far

ah, i always laugh at choppers who think they need a runway to take off from, same thing on the aircraft carrier but much worse (especially on 64 player maps)

haha not funny man, i once saw i guy landin on the strip with his BH as if he was a plane, he came very fast along the strip then rolled the BH 2 its spot and toke of the same way haha
