font/text menu error?! HELP

Hi, I need some help!

I recently re-installed windows and BF2. Upon starting up the game, all of the fonts (right from the login menu) are missing/blurred. I know where there should be text, and it looks like a bunch of blurred/rectangular characters.

I re-re-installed BF2, tried with and without the 1.02 patch. Does anyone have any ideas what I should do next? Thanks

ok, I appear to be having DirectX errors.

I ran the diagnostic tool and saw some errors with the dx8/9 rendering (no texture on the cube) but all the files are intact. How do I proceed?

Try re-installing DirectX 9.0c and your latest video card drivers.

there is no way to uninstall directx! the install from the cd and microsoft wont install over what i already have.

You should be able to re-install DirectX. I used do it all the time.

And yes, you are correct: there is no way to un-install it.

What version of DirectX are you trying to re-install and where did you get it from?
