    try copying the contents of the CD to the hard drive and install it from there.

        Just load up windows explorer (Windows key + E)

        Then browse to your hard drive and create a new temporary folder.
        e.g. c:\HL2 install files

        Then browse to your CD and select ALL of the files (can use Control + A) and then copy (Control + C).

        Then go to your temporary directory that you created and paste the files (can use Control + V).

        Then find setup.exe and run it from there.

        If you receive CRC errors (cyclic redundancy check) during the file copy, you may have a bad or dirty CD on your hands.

          noob. jk anyway do u have the CD Key ok good. just take that to the Steam Browse Games menu and click the little button on the bottom. It says installed a game i already own or something like that. click that and enter the CD key in there. that will download all the necessary files to play HL2 and CSS and DoDs if u bought that package which i assume u didnt cause u have the installer CDz.

              hmm well i have all 5 of them, i have a circular scrape around it, you can barely see it though on my 4th disk.

              I'll try what you said.

                  ugh, i don't know exactly what i should do and where i should put a temporary file, i also don't know how to '' browse '' through my cd.

                    Then you're in a bit over your head.

                    You should ask for help from somebody you know who knows how to create directories and copy files to your hard drive for you.
