    Mouse Set Up Thread.

    Hi....

I have an MX518 set up as follows.

    1. Shoot.
    2. Alt Fire/Sights.
    3. Position 2 (Land/Air Vehicle)~Click/Scroll Weapons~Wheel.
    4. Roger/OK.
    5. TS talk/Parachute. (Shared Button).
    6. +Increase Mouse Sensitivity.
    7. -Decrease Mouse Sensitivity.

The only button i cannot config is the application switch button (to the right of #7 in pic).

I think that having Roger/OK as mouse button 4 may be a bit lame, what do you think i should have on mouse button 4 ? Any tips ?

Whats your setup using same numbered buttons ?:hmm:

The mouse should be for things that you need in the heat of battle and that you need frequently, IMO. I believe it to be a big waste to have "roger/okay" on the mouse.

I have the MX510 and I have it set up like

      1) Shoot
      2) Secondary/iron sites
      3) reload (although I am reconsidering this because I don't often reload IN battle, but when I am in a non-battle situation)
      4) Secondary weapon (I don't remember the number, but it would be grenade/GL/AT missile)
      5) Main weapon (need this to change between normal and single fire)
      6) Is my commander rose (whatever the one you use to ask for UAV and what not)
      7) other rose (spotted, "get out". . .etc) (I use these with my middle finger and use the index finger to select)
      8) (the one you don't have assigned) is main talk.

You should really have it assigned to something, there is a way to assign it to a key and then you just assign that key to the command that you want. Works well for me.

I really think that position 2 is a waste because I tend to use MOST of the position is the vehicles. . .so this wouldn't work too well for me.

How, exactly, do you share a button? everytime you open your parachute, do you talk?

I also don't have any mouse sensitivity. . . but I can see how it would help. . . however, you can set up the sensitivity in the menu for each type of vehicle. . .so i don't see the need for it on your mouse. However, I don't have it and never use it so I can't say that it is pointless.

        7. -Decrease Mouse Sensitivity.
        8. Q

I've tried a bunch of different setups, and I find that I rarely use buttons 4, 5, and 8, no matter what I assign to them.

          MX518

          Left-click: Primary fire
          Right-click: Alternate fire/Sights
          Scroll-wheel (scrolling): Weapon select
          Scroll-wheel (button): Prone
          Back-arrow (mouse 5): Reload
          Forward-arrow (mouse 4): Pistol

I'm thinking of putting the reload back on R and having the back arrow be my class' special item (shock paddles, SRAW, C4) I might change the pistol to my main weapon so I can swap between these really fast and without having to take my fingers off the W, A, S, and D keys.

I really wish I could make keysets for each class or have a quick switch (toggle) key. If I could do that I'd have a toggle key for the pistol and primary weapon and another toggle for my primary weapon and my special item.

I find the mouse sensitivity buttons are really useful in vehicles. In a tank/APC, I'll put it on the highest sensitivity so that I can rotate the turret 180 degrees with a quick flick; if I spot a target, I reduce the sensitivity for higher accuracy. In a helicopter, I like to have it on high sensitivity normally, but reduce the sensitivity when hovering in place.

As infantry, I don't find it useful at all. In fact, a lot of the time I'll forget to lower it after being in a vehicle and my first gunfight makes me look like a total spaz.

I have the same mouse as you. For the two buttons next to the thumb, I have switching of views (F9 and F10). Helps a lot when in a tank, or in a helicopter. Middle mouse button I have set to talk on Vent/TS. Scrolling switches through weapons (default). + and - are set to sensitivity changing (450, 900, 1550).

I like the large "can't miss" buttons myself.

                Left side button = prone
                Left main button = fire
Right side button = grenades/m203 launcher
Right main button = alt fire
Mouse wheel press down (button 3) = weapon fire mode select
Mouse scroll wheel up = knife
Mouse scroll wheel down = pistol

                when I'm in a vehicle

Mouse wheel forward = view from front
Mouse wheel back = first person view
Right thumb button = view from behind
                Left thumb button = flairs

Never looked into how to get my other buttons recognized. Just go the mouse a month or so ago. I think I need a newer driver for it - because I dont even have the front/back buttons recognized in windows - or maybe I have a bum mouse.

Cool, that makes sense. . .especially for the helicopter.

LOL, I think I saw a guy who was afflicted with wrong mouse sensitivity the other day. . .easiest kill ever.

                            Garbage way-old logitech:

                            Left-click: Primary fire
                            Right-click: Alt fire

                            Back-arrow: Squad talk

I like to be able to talk a lot in squads so I hate having to move my fingers that far to the 'B' key.
