This is something I must admit I'm very good at, however, up until recently, I haven't thought that AT snipers could become the new helicopters of the game (annoying, unavoidable, and virtually undefeatable). This thought first crossed my mind when I was playing Dalian plants, I was in one of the outposts near the water and shooting at an enemy tank which was at an adjacent one. I finally got the driver to bail out, I was of course a bit annoyed because I didn't get a kill, so I fired another shot at the driver as he was running down a hill at his base. I was amazed to find I had hit him dead on WHILE he was moving and so far away. I first thought "yeah, that'll teach him!" but then thought, "what about when other people get a lot of practice with the AT gun?" It's great being this skilled, but what about when other people get this good. Will there be anywhere to run or hide?

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
AT snipers are easy to kill, wait for reload then spray and pray, the little 9mm smg can't do jack diddly squat against an automatic rifle or MG

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
yea and you dont get as much ammo as with a sniper rifle. so you need a support guy with you if you wanted to snipe for awhile

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
The most underrated part about AT sniping is that people actually die and can't be revived!
I don't use the rockets at close range - that's what the DAO is for. However using the ERYX/SRAW as a sniper rifle is a perfectly valid (and semi-realistic) tactic as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who plays anti-tank often knows how easy it is to avoid getting hit, and the splash damage is almost non-existent.
A squad of anti-tank troops (with DAO's) plus a support and medic is really quite fearsome!

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
Everybody has lucky shots. And its not very impressive to "snipe" someone with an AT rocket. As its just line them up shoot and hope they don't move. I'd rather be sniping if they weren't going to move. And as for hitting moving targets from miles away. Takes a bit of skill yes, but not much, and its easily avoided if you know it's coming, and then there is a whole STANDING not moving for a very long time while you guide the rocket. Plenty of time for a sniper to line you up or someone else to kill you. I prefer to shoot a rocket .. stop guiding it and let it hit stationary targets.

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
Well, that's not the only time I sniped someone who was moving. I was also playing Karkand shortly after than and AT sniped someone as they were running. They responded with "Holy crap! Nice shot!"

Re: Sniping with the AT gun
The other part about rocket sniping is that you can be moving while aiming/guiding without affecting your accuracy. It's just that most people don't bother, making themselves easier targets.Originally posted by Sllutmonkey69... and then there is a whole STANDING not moving for a very long time while you guide the rocket. If I'm having a (long distance) face off with a sniper, I know that the match up is pretty even. It takes a long time for the rocket to travel, but the sniper has poor accuracy when moving or lining up a moving target. It's just a matter of taking your chances, while doing everything in your power to improve them!
Just as a side note, keep in mind that there is a difference between the ERYX and the SRAW's behaviour. With the ERYX it's a lot easier to fire a shot and then quickly duck behind cover and still score a hit. This is because it curves less, plus it tends to stay on a straight line once you stop guiding it. The SRAW, while more manouverable in the air, will tend to go a little crazy once it loses guidance.
