Yeah, ranked 44 and top 75 for pistol kills before i quit the game a month ago.
so anyways, some of my tips may sound funky, but they work
some people say to never leave a silouette, but i always leave mine. but the thing is that you should leave as little of your body showing as possible. just enough so you can see them. because the thing is that he will HAVE to hit such a small target. but how can he easily hit the target without going to prone? when he goes to prone, that renders him to be the victim of a headshot being that his "head to body" ratio is larger. if he doesnt prone, then hes retarded, and you can just shoot him once then pistol spray him (if you are using the POS chinese or MEC gun, then 2 shots and pistol spray works.) Basically, leave a silouette but be sure that you have little of your body showing and you are covered to prevent flanks. If you are up against a good sniper, very little of you is showing, and you can escape easily.
Learn to lead your opponent at certain distances. i cant really explain how far ahead of them you have to aim because it varies depending on resolutions and distance. but the best way to do it is go whatever distance away from the enemy's flag, lets say about 150 m. Just keep sniping people from about 150m away and get the hang of it and take note of how much you have to lead them.
You have to know whos worthy of being shot. If there is a guy running directly left or right from your POV, try not to bother. If you know you can land the shot, good for you, do it then pistol spray. But if you arent confident of landing the shot, then who cares? its not like you are being judged on how many kills you get. Just look for another guy to shoot.
Re-Aim. If there is a dumbass who likes to sit still after being shot. like maybe a guy in a turret or a distracted sniper, learn to hold down the fire button then reaim. if you do that, you can just quickly zoom then shoot immediately after you reload. but if the person knows where you are, dont bother reaiming because it will mean it's their turn to shoot you as you are reloading. but if that comes along, and you already hit him once, just pistol spray. if you didnt hit him, then just run or hide.
Close Quarter Sniping. I do that **** all the time in Karkand and Sharqi and Mashtuur. Pretty much, its all a game of waiting for the person to go prone, then skull ****ing him with your gun. if there is more than 1 person, dont bother shooting them. lure them into a claymore. if the person is still standing after you shoot, pistol spray. A big thing in city maps is paying attention to your map, because the UAV knows all and sees all. Look for groups of people, and claymore the chokepoint such as a door, or grenades the **** out of them. If they are still living, they will be in shell shock and you can clean them up with a pistol or more nades :). In maps like Karkand, once the round starts, all i do it snipe the Box area from the hill, or snipe from the box area at the hill. Once im done with that, i claymore the **** out of the place. Because I know there are teammates around me that are covering my flanks. But you cant guarentee they are smart enough to see a damn red skull and crossbone. So just play it smart.
A small tip is to reload when you have 2 bullets left in your clip, but dont reload unless if you are in a tight situation, such as you have to kill a guy or 2. Just reload when its safe or you have to.
And last but not least, snipe doorways or bottleneck areas. because it takes the least ammount of aim, and it takes reaction. For example, in Sharqi, go to the second level of the construction site looking at the hill. There will be a board with a gap on the left side of it. prone and look through the gap, you will see those 2 chokepoints on the hill flag wall thing. its so easy to snipe people through those doorways. and if i want to be a bitch, i run them claymore them.
Like I said, some of the **** may sound funky, but I can dominate pubs like no other easily just by doing those things. yeah
