Balancing The Assault and Sniper Classes...

Ok so I'm a long time reader of the boards. I don't generally post, just read.

So everyone knows that the Assault and Sniper classes don't have any way of gaining teamwork points like all the other classes do (I know Spec Ops don't at the moment but thats going to change).

Assault classes are ment to be the infantry killers right? Well why not give an Assault player 1 or 2 teamwork points for every 5 kills? Then Assault players are able to gain extra points in the same ways the other classes are. And I don't see how you could stat pad to gain points doing that.

Snipers. Spotters right? What if a Sniper was to get 2 teamwork points for every 10 or so ACCURATE reports of enemy unit positions. They shouldn't be able to just spam with "Enemy Spotted" continually to rack up points. They should have to be accurate reports that have not yet been reported or are not already visible on the mini map.

Just a few ideas. What does everyone think?

I don't really care. IMO sniper, assault and spec ops have better guns than other classes.
Assault has the grenade launcher over the medic.
Spec Ops has a more accurate gun.
Sniper is just one shot kills if you can shoot good.

Doesn't really bother me. I get more kills as any of those 3 classes than with the extra point classes.
I don't like switching weapons all the time to heal, revive, give ammo or repair. I prefer just to get points by shooting.

Yep, right with ya, here's what i think. Sniper get's claymores (great if you use em right), the Spec Ops get's the most versatile explosive of them all, C4 of course. ANd Assault has body armor and also it has that damn nooblauncher.

I know, but it just has that above the medic, as well as the noobnades for all those damn bunnyhoppers.

I agree that snipers should, but i think that assault is good enough on it's own, especially on maps like Sharqi, or Karkand.

Bad idea for snipers because in maps like 64 player Karkand, you can randomly press "spotted" into a spawn and you'll get a billion points.

Yeah, we don't need any more spotted messages, imo, it would be great for bigger maps, but for maps like Karkand, leave it to the commander to do that with just spotted messages, and the UAV.

Re: Balancing The Assault and Sniper Classes...

Just score the sniper like the commander in that you only get a point if the enemy you spot is killed within a minute or so. It very frustrating finding a good hide that you can shoot from and spot the enemy from only to have half your "job" being pointless. A proper sniper can be invaluable in a team environment by weakening/killing/distracting the enemy before you encounter them and warning you of their approach.

The other thing I would really like for the sniper is some sort of ability to change the color of the gillie suit. As it currently stands the gillie suit is anti-camoflauge, it sticks out like a sore thumb. As little as three selectable shades of green/tan would substantially improve the funcionality of the suit.

Other adjustments I would like to see done: Increase the magnification on the scopes. Allow the croshairs to be customized. Allow for a single press enemy spotted function so it can be assinged to a mouse or joystick button. Allow for people to turn off enemy spotted audible messages. Fix the legs sticking thru walls bug so I don't get killed by being shot in the foot. Allow claymores to be picked up and moved.

YEah, great idea, i hate not being able to pick up claymores, and the guile suit just sux when not in dark green tall grass.

The sniper class already get teamwork points with kill assist. They get those pretty easily and that..helps the team

Spotting can be done by everyone, and it's also very useful, but i doubt it should be rewarded (it's more a "good habit" to have), else you'll see a new stat padding method.

The assault? god leave alone unless you fix the nooblaunchers...They get enough kill as is.

If you fix those classes, make it that the AT class get kill assist points for bringing manned ennemy vehicles down below half (when they are blown)...i've countlessly brought down vehicles down to a sliver of health...only to get 0 points because another AT has the last rocket in just before me. That's one of the thing i dislike with the At...you face the most dangerous things in the game, and only get a reward (which is equal to a noob-toob kill) if you have the killshot.

The way it works currently is that you only get a kill assist if you wound a player down 50% (or close to that), so you can't get any assist if the vehicle is not open-topped or if you didn't actually wound a passenger. Vehicle damage doesn't count for kill assists.

YEah, i agree, bonus points for vehicle killing assists, as well as bonus points just for killing armor (like 1 for a 2+ person vodnik, 2 for a apc, and 3 for a tank). THat would encourage people to actually try to kill the vehicle whores.
