    Commander After next patch

I've been doing alot of thinking about the next patch and I've come up with a list of problems.

1.) Since the commander assets will die earlier on you wont see many commanders or you will see them on the front lines more often then not. Which by all means is not the intent of the commander role, but its going to happen since they have nothing better to do than stare at a map with no red dots.

2.) Commanders will have a harder time earning points. I remember when I first got my staff officer ribbon or something such as that I had 2 fully loaded BH's whoring on songhua stalemate. As the commanders points are an average of the represented team I find that it may be more difficult to gain commander points.

3.) With the 1 driver cap rule I find it might be a little more difficult to promote teamwork with the assets all gone, which will hurt commander points furthermore.

4.) A new possible stat padding made possible by Spec Ops! Commander Asset padding. Get 1 engineers and 1 spec. Ops. and have the engineer repair only to blow it up again.

Brilliant... DICE.... You've managed to kill other aspects of the game.

He made a respectable post, YOURS on the other hand....

He made a reasoned argument for his conclusion, YOU on the other hand....

      DID NOT.

He's probably right. A dedicated squad (at least) will focus on taking out command assets probably....and a dedicated squad (a very kind squad) will work on stopping them...hopefully this will balance it out.

The spec ops stat padding will be limited the same as medic/support/engineer in the patch. You can still stat pad but with limited points per round you'll have to do lots more rounds to see points at the pre-patch levels.
Next time wait until after the release to complain.... otherwise this is gonna get real old, real quick.

The speed at which the assets can be repaired will limit the "stat padders" as you described them. There are much easier and FASTER ways to getting points.

If you ever been an engineer and tried to repair a UAV you'll know it takes a while.

Yes, commander assets and "main bases" will be camped by SpecOps thoughout the round. I think some engineers and possibly a sniper will hang back and take out these guys. I know as sniper I can and usually can get a clear shot on a SpecOps while he's placing C4 - most SpecOps stop to place their C4 which gives me enough time to shoot them.

An enemy commander that drops a supply crate to repair an asset is just giving points to the other team - as you say stat pad. My understanding is that the SpecOps only gets 1 point per asset destroyed, but I could be wrong.

Anyone who respawns at the main base for say the helicopter, armor, etc. will want to keep it clear of enemies and thus help the commander.

You can still help your team when your assets are destroyed. You can still spot, however annoying it may be with all the spam, and you can still drop supplies.

Whenever someone asks for UAV and the UAV trailer is destroyed I press the button and they hear, "UAV currently unavailable. Trailer destroyed."

True, but I doubt you've compensated for the fact that some bases are cappable, meaning your teams going to loose that base sooner or later. But in all likelyness it'll be sooner because of the fact that 50% of a game is special ops. With that in mind you have half of their team heading for your base. More than enough infrantry to take out a couple of lonely snipers.

And lastly most people dont care about the destroyed UAV. IN todays servers lots of them will vote you out even though you have no control over it. Happens to me all the time and I'm forced to drop a crate onto the UAV trailer.

Then after that they complain about no supply drops.

              Re: Commander After next patch

You guys act like everyone is going to be spec ops going after assets once the patch comes out. Nobody is going to do that for a few points. This is just to reward people who enjoy being spec ops or bring back people who like being spec ops but don't because there are no points involved. Once the assets are destroyed you can't earn anymore points off them unless the commander brings them back, and if he knows what he is doing you will be dead by then. On top of that I don't think it's going to be more than a few points anyway.

Maps like Strike at Karkand where the MEC has a cappable main base has always been a main target. Its so easy to circumvent the defending forces to take their main base currently - I don't see that changing too much, but I could be wrong.

People mutiny for stupid and selfish reasons. The changes will definiately make commanding more difficult without a dedicated crew to defend. A lonely engineer and a sniper won't cut it, like you said, but maybe people will start defending the main base more now that they'll be a steady stream of enemy attacking a fixed target?

True but only good if the snipers survive. Plus as a commander I'm only limited to 2, which means I need some more people.

No, it should be the other way around. The commander should remain at base to repair his damaged equipment.

Teamwork will remain the same. I do not consider everyone loading into a blackhawk and flying around to be "teamwork". First, we don't know if the 1 cap rule is only for blackhawks. Second, it's not hard for everyone to get out for a 2 seconds.

I would not consider these "fair" commander points just as Dice does not consider blackhawk capping "fair" (hence the patch). Good commanders do just fine on maps that don't have blackhawks.

I dont see much problems happening really. The way you guys are talking is as if every single member using the spec-ops kit will be after the commander assests. They will make hardly any points for doing that, they would still be playing the game normally as they will get more points for that.
The few points you may gain from destorying the commander assests is just an incentive to blow them up while you are there - which you should do anyway.

Indeed. Commanders will need to actually assign squads to protect assests like they were supposed to have done when the game was first released. Of course, risking losing loads of time for no points soon became less popular after a week.

Actually you have can 5 Claymore deployed at one time - you obviously need to have supplies and a commander dropping a crate to resupply is easy AND can be used as a lure for your enemy SpecOps.

Place a Claymore down, drop a supply crate on top of it. SpecOps comes to resupply, BOOM - little trick I learned in Nom.
