    crash to desktop during play

hi i havent been playing bf2 for bout a month till a couple of days ago, and wheneva im playing, the game will sumtimes crash to desktop.

This never used to happen before, i recently cleaned my pc out with duster though the game was crashing before that so i dont think i broke anything.

I will be able to play for 20 mins or even 2 matches (online) and then suddenly it will lag and then it will go black and be at desktop.

im wondering if its a cooling issue, the only plans i have for my pc bout cooling is getting a rounded IDE cable instead of my flat one. can ne1 confirm this is a cooling issue and tell me what to do?
Ive got software that detects my temp - speedfan and everest - but they only do my hard drive (which is bout 50 degrees most da time)

    thanks

    btw my spec is:

    intel p4
    1.5gb ram
    Radeon X300

Have you checked your event viewer?

    Start->Run->type in 'eventvwr.msc'->Enter

Look under Application and find the time stamp that matches the CTD.

Otherwise, I'd recommend upgrading your video card drivers

...and maybe even your mainboard drivers.

If you think it is a heat issue, then try picking up a small tabletop fan, open your case, and point the fan directly into your machine and play. See if it crashes then.

I had problems with one of the Nvidia drivers, crashing to the desktop. Then new ones came out and it was fixed. My flatmate had the same problem too but the drivers didn't fix it. He reinstalled windows and its fixed.

I have the same fault. game plays great with superb graphics etc but after 10 - 20 minutes gameplay CTD. immediately restart game and re join same map (this seems to keep the stats scoring as well) and the game will run great for 10 - 20 minutes (no more) and then CTD again. I don't believe this is a heat issue. Zalman CPU cpns9500 fan seems to be keeping |CPU temp down to around 42 during gameplay. No mention of the CTD in the event viewer anywhere.
I have just built the system so BF2 is the only program I have on the PC. Nothing else except windows XP Pro.
            Specs are:
AMD FX57 with Zalman CNPS9500 CPU cooler
            ASUS Deluxe A8N SLi
XFX Geforce 7800GTX factory overclocked to 490Mhz
            2Gb DDR400 PC3200 RAM
            Audigy 2 ZS
2 x WD Raptor 74GB drives in RAID 0 setup

It might have something to do with the SATA RAID setup. Anyone have similar specs and no problems?

It wouldnt be RAID, as i have the same problem and i dont use RAID, although my specs are not as good as yours, but its definetly not heat. I thought i heard something about it as an error that was meant to get fixed by the patch, but i havnt heard anything following it up.
