Incomplete server start-up

Hi,
I'm running a unranked 1.02 server on a fedora core 2 linux machine, it goes beyond the minimum requirements. I've done all appropriate configuations, as said by the readme's, but when I start the server (./start.sh) the server starts but apparently doesn't start a game or load a map. Under status it says [no game], under game and map it's just blank, under mod it says bf2... All the port forwardings been done, etc... but my friend cannot connect.

Any ideas?

u have to make sure u pick the right ip adress in BF2 launcher or that will happen.

could you explain that in more detail? Not sure what the BF2 launcher is...
