I think there are more and more pilots getting better and better, and if one side has a monopoly on those pilots, then resistance is futile. My only solution is to:

    A. Turn in my PKM or shotgun and strap on an F-15 or SU 30 and learn how to fly in this game.

    B. Play on non-flying maps

    C. Bitch and whine like a little girl

I don't mind helos since it's possible to engage them in a somewhat unfair fight, but when it comes to jets, the only defence is to hope against hope that their are a couple of pilots who don't suck on my team (doesn't seem to be the case lately). Jets have definitely sucked the fun out of this game for me, which is too bad because I love the ground war.

And to all the pilots who will flame me and tell me that I suck - learn how to fight on the ground like a real man.
Dude learn how to fly. Dont complain about air supremecy, the fact is your team is given equal amount of air supremecy and if you cant use them properly its your faults, no matter what the excuse is.

    Dont complain about them.

In real life a jet would suck the life out of you fast. Just sitting in a camp not surrounded by any civilians will guarantee your going to be hit by a bomb or a missle.

Yeah, I remember about that. Its called chafe or something like that. Packets of tin foil (well, basically) that explode after launching. The metal surface reflects the radar signals and scrambles the lock on. I know that there are advanced counter measures, but isnt just pulling hard to one direction usually the standard tactic if the counter measures dont work? man I wish I had kept up with pilot tactics. I stopped caring like 10 years ago after an air force recruitment guy told me I would never become a pilot becuase of past asthma (Dickhead). Turning was what I always used on sims like falcon 4.0 (pretty much the only sim I actually played longer than 2 weeks) and it worked great on that game.

            /anti-airpower rant

Yeah, the thing about jets I find is that they really make tactics and teamwork impossible in any game and make it brainless, boring, creditless contest of aim and luck (I'm not calling jet pilots dumb, investing their time in airpower was a gamble that really paid off). When one team has air power which is even slightly better than yours they might as well rename it "Battlefield: GET ON THAT JET/HELO/AA GUN OR DIE!". As far as I can see, AA is mostly luck and, and chances are by now every pilot can bomb every single stationary AA emplacement and crush all hopes of survival for the other team pretty quickly, so you usually can't even rely on that. None of these 3 really take any thinking either (then again, I don't use them much, so maybe I'd change my mind if I did), because what it really comes down to is reflexes and hand eye coordination (or with AA, just luck), skills which should be left as the dominators for the platformer games. But perhaps the most annoying thing about airpower is that it can go back and repair at its leisure. This will get it off your back for a bit, but, of course, you will get no recognition for your contribution to the team.

            /end anti-air power rant
            /anti-bailing out rant

Then again, the same is true with people who bail out of tanks. You do a lot for your team getting them out of their, but end up getting no credit unless you can kill them AGAIN (so to speak). But that's a different story.

I dunno but it just showed you how n00b you are:

1.) Anyone whos good at something can overpower it.

              E.g.

Jets - Good Pilot - Constant bombing, machine gunning, etc. No way you'll survive. AKA Jet Whoring.
Attack Chopper - Good Pilot & Gunner - Constant machine gunning, TV missle whoring, and overall chopper Whoring
Full Transport CHopper - Good Crew self repairing - Well no need to say this but you've already complained about BH whoring.
Tank - Good Gunner, Good Driver - No need to tell you but a good driver will know the dropoff and bullet speed making every shot count, so Heli's can almost die.
APC - Good driver - No need to tell you if you've been on Karkand where people like to APC whore.

Basically everything is overpowered if you know how to use them. If you want them to nerf jets you might as well nerf the rest of the game, at which point you are left where you started with, or with vehicles with rediculous armour.

It just go's to show that much of the BF2 community either never thinks, or are just kids, who complain about being beaten over and over again. Sorry to those of you who are actually mature, and cool during fights.

Anyone good at something can turn an average weapon into something untouchable.

But the ultimate fact is, in todays world weapons are more powerful than armour. IF BF2 was a real simulation you wouldn't see any of your tanks lasting very long, or if infrantry is within 1.5 KM or 2 at most, they'd better take cover or their instantly shot by a tank.

All AT missles are 1 hit kill.
All Tank shells are 1 hit kills.
All Bombs are 1 hit kills.
Bullets can pierce multiple people before they stop.

Basically BF2 is an arcade game. Weapons are already nerfed to 1/4th their real power. When A shell explodes it takes out a lot of people in the blast radius. It doesn't do that in BF2 for sure.

Re: Jet Jockeys are taking over

But then again only noob pilots don't go after the other guy when both teams have air assets up. If I'm in a fighter and I see a bogey I completely forget that the ground is even there and just go after him. If I'm in a bomber... well I go after other bombers and if the other team has a fighter I only go after it if the pilot sucks. And because only noob pilots don't go after other planes, not many bombs are going to kill, and the good pilots will be too busy to bomb (or at least for a minute or two) while they're engaged.

Honestly I don't mind getting bombed if I'm in a tank. If I manage to get to the base I want to get to there's going to be 5 AT guys and a couple kamikaze spec ops anyways so what's the difference?

Believe it or not good pilots will bomb on the run. There is nothing more dis-satisfying then trying to follow a jet diving to the ground only to pull up and then you die because he bombed the ground which you were too close to.

Bombers shouldn't have their AA missles locked if they hope to survive jets. The minute they hear a lockon the novices will try and find you which is not a good thing. The purpose of a bomber is to avoid jets, not make one look for you.

You are missing my point. It's not that the jets are overpowered, it's that they are unable to be defended against (unless you have skilled pilots on your team). This is a rock/paper/scissors game, but in the case of the jets (lets call them a "rock"), then the only thing that can take them out is a bigger, badder rock (in other words a better pilot flying a jet on your side). All the other weapons you listed can be taken out by something as simple as an AT mine, a TOW, machine gun, etc. Read my original post again. The reason helos are OK in my book is that there is something a guy on the ground can do about it, but when it comes to jets, they are the only weapon system that can't be taken out unless you are using the same weapon system. It blows.

Another 6 months and we can all just stand around and hurl harsh insults at each other.

Personally, I welcome a good pilot on my team. If he's on the other team, just "be where he ain't" or shoot him down.

They should introduce a new kit with stingers and a basic bolt action rifle..

That way the danger to pilots can come from any angle, not the one angle they've practiced a gazillion times, taking out the airdefenses.

I agree that, as they are now, planes are over the top.

each class has weaknesses and strenghts, but when the only weakness is another of the same class on the other side then it's obvious it's flawed balancing (unless you're a pilot offcourse, I can imagine all of you flying around with a very smug smile, praying things don't change..

This complaining is never gonna end until there is no game left at all for anybody. Because that's what you are gonna get if EA does all the changes according to complaints they get.

If EA/DICE does something to planes, you start complaining about tanks and how incredibly overpowered they are. This cycle is never gonna end.

ALot is the pilots and in some cases the co-pilot, they have to use the jet right, some @sses, use the jet solely for stat purposes, I happen to subscribe to the theory, the jet is used for ground support and keeping the enemy jets busy so they don't reap havoc on my guys. I will fly around waiting for those nice juicy Heli's or enemy jet, till my team calls a spots a tank or apc, then I'll use my bombs or my co-pilot takes the shot. I found my team is usually very happy with my air "support!!!!!"

HAving the jets was just a dumb idea in the 1st place.(imho). They ruin the entire balance of the game. Just like the punishment system, the special ops no points ,padding, suicide bombing, hopping and the browser a ton of other things, EA/DICE don't have testers that are an 1/8th as good and as experienced as the peeps who will buy and play this game full time, who will find every exploit and anything thay will give them an advantage and change the balance of the game so they can win at all costs. They need public beta testers especially the ones who play the game as it was UNintended to be played. EA/DICE could look at the BF2 stats and actually pick a team of testers that would find all the unbalances and exploits and just watch them to see how they mined all their points.

The fix-other than removing them-allow admins to enable/disable the jets. Then we could play on no jet servers.
