    Jet Jockeys are taking over

More and more I find myself disconnecting in the middle of a game simply because continuing is pointless. Why? Air supremacy or the lack thereof. Either my team is dominating and the only thing to do is go to the enemies main base and spawn rape (not fun), or have the same thing happen to our team. I think there are more and more pilots getting better and better, and if one side has a monopoly on those pilots, then resistance is futile. My only solution is to:

    A. Turn in my PKM or shotgun and strap on an F-15 or SU 30 and learn how to fly in this game.

    B. Play on non-flying maps

    C. Bitch and whine like a little girl

I don't mind helos since it's possible to engage them in a somewhat unfair fight, but when it comes to jets, the only defence is to hope against hope that their are a couple of pilots who don't suck on my team (doesn't seem to be the case lately). Jets have definitely sucked the fun out of this game for me, which is too bad because I love the ground war.

And to all the pilots who will flame me and tell me that I suck - learn how to fight on the ground like a real man.

Go for solution C, we need more of those on this forum.

Maps with aircraft just ain't fun to play unless you are flying. I'm not interested in spending my time just being a tartget so until ground troops get some effective means of shooting back I won't be playing those maps.

Nah Jets are fine, they just need to make all jets only have 2 bombs Max. Helis are usually fine except for the MEC heli as the gunner on that thing is the most rapage gun in the game. Way better than the blackhawk.

Cripes, after reading a bunch of your posts I realise that you and I have almost identical playstyles (I thought I was the only one who waited at the Chinese main on Songhua and if nobody takes the tank, grabs it and hides it in the trees waiting for the BH ). I feel the same way as you do. If the air power is relatively even, I'll play on those maps (except Clean Sweep -- I hate that farking map). Otherwise, if one side is getting dominated I'll usually leave.

Yeah I just went three rounds on Gulf of Oman in the SU bomber, and racked up a total of about 100 kills and 0 deaths. It was rediculous that no one could shoot me down. Of course I was in a six man squad with a squad mate in the Mig. We were shooting down planes right and left, choppers, and bombing like there was no tommorow. We kept knocking out the essex before he could even blink, and were pretty much like gods. I mean I did come withing a few bars for death a couple times from the F-35's, but quickly lost the tail and repaired. They really need to do something to balance it out.

I here you especially on maps like gulf of omen now that map you stay as far away from jets as u can cuz it seem thats all both teams do is rape each other unless they have people in AA who know what there doing

If a person on AA knows what he's doing, then he knows that he has no chance of hitting a skilled jet pilot.

One of the biggest problems of the many of BF2 is not real air defense. I am a pilot and don't think it is fair. If you stay in a tight turn you cannot be taken out.

I'm curious how the new Stinger/IGLA will work in the v1.03 "Super" patch...

They said they beefed it up...lets see.

we playing a modern millitary game they [like it or not] have to stay, the ground defences just need to be a bit stronger,

Isnt that how you would dodge a missle in real life, break hard left/right and deploy some counter measures. I do have to agree that Air is getting a little annoying, but I have to say that they definately earned it. It's not easy to fly the jets effectively, and takes a lot of practice. I'm waiting for the new patch to come out. Im hoping that they will beef up the AA enough to take out airplanes, but leave it weak enough that a true skilled pilot could dodge it.

Its not just good pilots, its buggy hitboxes (video proof):

If its lazer guided you'd have to obstruct the lazer somehow, or make it overshoot. Thermals wont track you if you can blur your thermal signature. To do that you spin then break hard in any direction. The thermal patter will just appear as a spiral or a huge blob of heat on the sensors. Once it clears it, it'll lock onto the remains of your trail but not have sufficient tracking to catch you thus losing lock-on.

Most SAMs I dont believe are thermal guided anymore, but most aircraft have more then flares now... Modern day aircraft have some debri-like dust which can be deployed on a SAM lockon, and it will destroy the missle following you. Probably because modern day SAM's are more advanced.

So in reality BF2 is not modern-based, however, if it was a newbi pilot could dodge a missle by simply destroying it.
