    'Connection to server lost' fix*

    Hello

This is specifically for those who cannot connect to multiplayer at all generating this message.

Even more specifically cable modem users(not sure if ADSL or other modems have similar)

You need to reset your modem in my case it was a motorolla 4100 surfboard and you do it by opening your internet browser(and for NTL/surfboard modem users use this address):

where it says 'reset all defaults' click and wait for your modem to reboot(this can take up to 30 mins)

Hope this fixes a few of the problems out there. Its taken me two weeks to narrow it down to this.

    good luck

The only problem to resetting your router to defaults, especially in my case, would be specific MAC address restriction settings, port forwards, NAT instances, etc.

Normally though, if someone uses these options, they wouldn't be setting their router back to <default>...lol :)

this address is for motorolla surfboard modems but you will have to google for your own specific brands make. You have to reset your defaults and get your modem to reinstal the updtes automatically. It may not be the cause all the problems but it worked in my case(connection to server lost on spawn screen not during a game).

Most cable modem(and adsl i think) have a diagnostic screnn enabling you to do this.

It all depends on your router's config.

            You best bet, in Windows XP, do the following;

            - click on start, and then "run"
            - type in cmd (command prompt)
            - when your DOS window pulls up, type in ipconfig
            - you should see three sets of numbers; IP Address, subnet mask, default gateway

Normally, the router's IP address is the default gateway (if gateway is 192.168.1.100, then go to your browser and type http://192.168.1.100)

Thats why this address wont work. It isnt an internet address its just talking to the modem, in this case its on the ip I quoted. You have to find out from the net which ip brings up the diagnostic screen for your specific modem.

Under my network adapter there is advanced tab which states full duplex and half duplex. What is that?
