I actually have an easier time flying the helos with the mouse and keyboard. Conversely so with the jets.

sid... i have my keyboard configured to where my arrow keys turn (not pitch) left and right, forward accellerates and down decellerates. my mouse does the rest of the aiming, firing, roling. that junk. i would think that not using the mouse is screwing you up alot. the mouse is able to give you more percision, controll over speed, and multi axis movement. i'de defentally use it!

as for the other guy who doesnt like people who think gunners suck, thats fine. i have flown maps without a gunner and did great, went to the very next map with mostly the same players, same teams, same map and done worse, not only that but the team did worse as well because a good helo pilot can drastically controll a game. just think about how many tanks are eliminated by one. having to wait on a gunner is time spent that i could be killing something else. yeah a gunner helps cap flags quicker (but not after this next update) and can kill infintry somewhat easier but its not worth it. everyone has their opinions and what works for them, personally i'm/my team is better without a gunner and i can get how thats hard to understand but ohwell.

some people NEED help, others choose to do the job themselves

I sat in a Blackhawk at an air show 2 weeks ago. THere are straps holding everyone in. 5-point harness-like.

The get in/out time might not be right, but nobody will fall out!

The fix I've been using is to rotate the gun to the extreme 4 corners of its movement (like calibrating a joystick) - that seems to re-center it and ensures that the bullets hit where you aim.

I consider this a highly annoying, serious issue that DICE ought to fix in the patch, but I haven't seen enough complaining about it yet.

Tip: for pilots choose the engineer class. you can swoop down and repair the uav trailer / scan / arty in seconds and help your team out.

That explains all the times I've been sitting there, shooting a scrambling infantryman over and over and OVER, with nothing happening. I always just assumed they were hacking or lagging.

I just use the default controls (WASD controls throttle and turn, mouse for pitch and yaw). It took me a while to get used to the physics, but once I got the circle-strafe down, it all just clicked. I recommend turning the mouse sensitivity way up (basically, as sensitive as it can be where you can still control a hover).

                    Re: Advance Helicopter piloting

I'm new to these forums, but have been playing the game for a while now ... I particularly enjoy piloting the attack helos (Mi-28 is my favorite). Now, I don't have a whole lot of time in the helos, only about 5 or 6 hours, but I don't really consider myself a slouch. My main problem is I don't have voice chat capabilities That and I have no luck finding a decent gunner ... but I digress.

Since this is the advanced chopper piloting thread, I was wondering if you guys could share some tips that could take my piloting to the next level, as it were. Right now I consider myself decent ~ good, but I want to be great. What I particularly need help with is dogfighting with other helos. How can I turn just that little bit faster? Are there any cool moves that will help me get my enemy's 6? How do I respond when another good pilot has *my* 6?

(ps: I use mouse & keyboard, mouse sensitivity up at about 6.5)
