Help taking 2 people online with my DSL!

Hey, I have a reasonably high speed DSL (around 2 meg) and it can certainly support 2 people online in BF at once, in different games, as we tried.
Obviously though we want me and my friend on a laptop to both go in the same game in my room.
However in BF, and any other game like CS we have tried, whenever we try to connect to the same server we are DC or kicked.

Is there some kind of fiddling around with numbers-ports type job we can carry out to fix this?

Have some friends over tommorow and an online assault together would be awesome

The only thing I can think is the server doesn't allow two CD-Keys from the same IP. But this wouldn't make sense, because they can always scan the internal IP and come up with different numbers. My only suggestion is to turn on DMZ with your router, but ONLY when playing BF2. This may work, but I can not promise anything.
