I've heard of some people doing this, but never seen this in action. Is it even possible?

if you swap places fast and high enough yeah, its what everybody did with BFV they switched places fast to launch an heatseaker, though i doubt its possible in here. but practice makes perfect

The heatseeker was laughable. You just fire and it does the job for you, but in here you actually have to control the darn thing.

I tried doing it, but the missile went haywire because I was panicking. Hmm.

It's not possible in BF2 because when there is no pilot in the seat, the chopper starts spinning.

Lol.

If you practice, you can do it easy, you just aim to the left quite a bit before switching to gunner , depending on height, you won't get a dead hit with the launch, you'll still need to click on the target after, but it'll work fine, and becasue the helos go up without a pilot, you'll NEVER crash.

I have done it.. Its hard if its distanced, but I switched once cuz I was out of missles and I didnt want to wait for the reload. I even recovered from almost going topsy turvy.. I dont think its worth it though.. I got lucky that one time but its too hard to use recover after being on the tv screen for so long.

I think it's only worth it against blackhawks, like when you see one taking off from the helipad and you have no gunner, it's much easier kill than with the rockets.

been practicing it and yesterday shot down a full blackhawk with it :)
its hard to get the timing right, as soon as you switch you spin crazy so you have to fire quickly to be on target. othertimes ill find a nice place to land and fire them off if no ones using the chopper. i personally prefer a good pilot than doing it on my own:P

Unless you are in the southern hemisphere, then it will spin left (anti-clockwise). Just ask the australians about their bath water.

With all due respect, i don't know if your joking, but it has nothing to do with gravity, it is the rear rotor not countering the main rotor, that's what causes it to spin like that.

This is a false statement. The Coriolis Effect is too insignificant to cause a major effect on water drainage.
