another focking question(for ppl who know there cpu stuff)

    ok here goes...................
BF2 is without a doubt one of my fav games. but i also love to play Wolf enemy territory but when i got my new cpu and installed wolfET and the 2.60 patch and went to play the game it wouldnt work.

When u start wolfET up a loading consol opens and well....loads things. it starts to do that, then flickers black as if it were going to start the game, then flickers back to the (grey) loading consol and and says sumthing like "could not load openGL subsystem. WTFwhat does this mean and how do i fix it? i'd really like to play sum ET, i played it b4 on my old cpu(laptop)but i could never get really good at it because the laptop sucked and i was avging 10 fps all the time........................plz help

This problem has NOTHING to do with your CPU. It has everything to do with your video card/drivers.

If you have an NVIDIA card, download the latest drivers from their web site (Detonators). If you have an ATI card, download the Catalyst drivers. Odds are you never installed the drivers to begin with... n00b. You call yourself a gamer?

ET being a quake engine saves hardware information in the /etmain/ etconfig.cfg and profile directories. make a copy of your etconfigs and save them somewhere else then delete the originals and see if it will start. deleting them will erase all your settings and binds though. -or- edit your etconfigs and remove any hardware specific lines.

I'm serious. It's the drivers. No question. Without proper OpenGL suppport game will at best have access to software emulation, which will run slow if at all. Here, it's failing to start in the first place. I'd hazard a guess that other OpenGL games may not work either.

ps. BF2 works great, dunno if that has to load an opengl subsystem...

Heck, isn't ANYONE paying attention to my advice?

As for BF2, that uses Direct3D, which your system probably already has drivers installed for. Best to reinstall the lastest drivers though.

s2, use the edit button. The 9600 is an ATI card (but google would have told you that, of course).

This is correct, I've had the same problem with Q3 and Wolfenstein. Get the right drivers
