    Re: graphic error

When you say it works ok on someone elses account, do you mean a different account on the same PC? Or is this a different PC that crashes? Also, by reset do you mean crash back to the windows desktop or does the whole PC reboot completely?

      Re: graphic error

i figured out y the mouse wasnt moving..... it was cause all the controls were blank so i set them 2 default

but i still dont understand why my pc resets.
it was a whole pc reboot.

        Re: graphic error

When your PC reboots randomly like that, its is a sign that either you need to update your motherboard chipset drivers or that you have a failing or inadequate power supply.

            Re: graphic error

Interestingly, I have the following system:

AMD Athlon 2400 Thorob' [running at 2.25Ghz with CoolerMaster 7 on full whack] detected as a 2800 [333FSBx13.5]
1Ghz [2x512] DDR400 RAM [so slightly underclocked by the FSB] running standard timing,
Geforce 5700 LE @500Mhz/500Mhz [up from 250[!!] and 400 repsectively]
Asus A7N8X Deluxe - that mobo is the shizzle, I tell thee.

Now, I run the game in low detail, 800x600 75Hz, no AA, as I reckon framrate and draw distance are more important than seeing every last detail on the empty bullet casings, and it runs a nice steady 75Fps [refresh Vmax fo' sho' mofos ].

However, after about 45-60 mins, the whole system locks. Not reboots, but locks.
Only way out of it is to hit the RESET button, or to hold power button in for five seconds. So it locks up Windows down to ACPI level, rather than just the game...

Now, I know you are going to say NO YOU OVERCLOCKED THE GRAPHICS CARD AND PROCESSOR, YOU ARE HEATHEN AND MUST BE CAST INTO THE PIT OF TEH DOOOOOM...

...but I have been playing about. Check this out my good mofos:

3DMark 2003 - loop the benchmarks for six hours. No crash.
3DMark 2005 - slow as hell, but stable for six hours. Still running when I came home from work.
SiSoftware Sandra 2k5 burn in test set to 150% load - eight hours and only a slight rise in CPU temp [from 45 to 49 deg].

So I'm dubious as to whether its system stability thats the issue. Other than the above programs its a Vanilla XP Pro SP2 install with just the relevant drivers installed, and a few choice apps that I dont have running in the background on the remote chance they might cause a judder in my silky smooth gameplay. I do leave AV running tho, as you can never be too careful these days.

Anyone care to offer any thoughts? When I isntalled the 1.02 patch [from new - never played without it] the setup window header said 1.01 - is this the proper patch or have I made a monumental has of it? It was downloaded from the EA site links [EAs own server IIRC] as the Exe.

Mind you I only tend to go on once in a while as my l33t FPS ninja skills arent quite up to the scratch for most people on these servers - they tell me to **** off and practice more

[Better than the CS -- Source sites however, where a few of them thought they'd try to be funny and DDOS me - shame I know more security consultants than they have had hot dinners....returned sustained, multiple zombie DDOS return salvo for 48 hours please...]

PS: Firefox no worky. I'm currently searching about the forum for a FireFox thread, but if anyone knows of a general 'firefox problems' thread then let me know - I cant reply using FF, only browse. Wont let me use the text box, y'see. At all.
