Problems with servers and connections, please help.

Please help me. I have just bought a copy of battlefield 2, I can play the singleplayer-mode in medium settings fine. When I try to play online and connect to a server I get a pop up saying - ' This server only allows players with unmodified content to join. Revert your version of BF2 to the current version to join.' and some servers I can join but it lags very bad and eventually crashes.
Please help, I've tried turning off firewalls, turned down video settings 2 lo, applied diffrent filters or none,PunkBster on and off, even reinstallling the game.
PC specs ; AMD3500+, NF4_SLI mobo, 1 gb ram, 1x 6600GT, 120gb hdd.
OS windowsXP home ed. SP2, DSL wireless 512k/512k connection.

Yes I downloaded a patch, I cant remember which one it was.
this patch did nothin 4 me and I reinstalled the game soon after.:)
This problem I had before I patched and after I reinstalled as well.

You need the 1.02 patch.

I've installed the 1.02 patch from the eagames site.
now when i join a server the screen freezes once the map starts.
do i need to do anything else to get the patch goin.
