Just simply park your chopper somewhere elevated on an edge, switch to the gunner seat, and take practice shots with the TV missile. You'll get the hang of it pretty quick I promise
Maximum effective range is around 650 meters afaik.

Remember, in combat, after switching back from the TV you must recalibrate your main gun. Meaning move your mouse to each corner or else you're going to be off target.

Uh, it's pretty easy.
You have to have a good pilot that can line your initial camera position
to the target (remember, your tv camera is below your cockpit, and
your missile won't be able to turn around much)

then you double click on the target, but to be sure just keep clicking
and adjust the missile's direction by clicking where you estimate
the target would be at the time of the impact.

takes a little training but it's a real killer against enemy choppers, bh's,
and basically everything else.

My biggest frustration with the TV missles has to do with most of the pilots I've flown with. I'm lucky to have a shot in about 10% of the instances where I've seen a target. Usually I see a target, click to TV, and the pilot is doing some crazy maneuver and I can't even see my target on the screen.

Since it's the most powerful weapon on board, you'd think the pilot would be a little more cognizent of the fact that you need a steady platform to use it effectively.

I think he means the main gun will be off target. I've found out that the main gun doesn't work anymore after I use the Tv guided missiles. When I don't switch the main gun just shreds infantry and jeeps apart.

When both guns work and used by a decent gunner the attack helis are way too overpowered. They need to make them 1s1k for tanks, apc rockets and AT plus mobile AA much stronger main gun. At least as good as machine guns of jeeps they need to be =P

Yeah I know, it's very annoying.. But it was the calibration thing that I was wtfing at.

i love the TV guided missiles, theres just somthing so satisfying about blowing up a tank with a single shot :)

So then your wtf has been answered?
Calibrate may be the wrong word for it, but I wouldn't know of any other.
And yes, as previously stated, the main cannon being off target is a (more or less) known bug in the game engine.
