Just reformatted, now my Battlefield 2 crashes

his is what I've done the past weekend:

-Bought a 200GB Seagate HD for $59 after rebate
-Transferred all my files over to this drive and made it a slave HD
-Reformatted C: and did a fresh install of XP with all updates including SP2

I have a Dell 4550 with the following specs:

-2.8ghz P4
-1 GIG RAM
-ATI Radeon X800XL 256MB AGP card

I've reinstalled BF2 and d/led the latest patch along with the latest ATI 5.8 Catalyst driver. Every time I'm loading up a map, it crashes to desktop after 46% loading of the map. I've turned off the firewall, un/reinstalled the ATI driver, turned anti-aliasing off, everything I could think of. Could this be a PSU problem from all the extra hardware **** I'm running now?

Motherboard chipset drivers must be the latest from the website. The same applies to sound drivers.

I did update my BIOS before this reformat, sound driver is up to date. BIOS drivers and MB chipsets are diff?

Yes, the motherboard chipset drivers are different than the BIOS firmware. The chipset drivers are crucial to optimal performance.

Another mod I did was that I maxxed out the paging file with a minimum of 3000MB and a max of 4096MB. Would this increase the inside temps?

minimum and maximum pf of 1024MB is sufficient for almost everyone,

4GB is pointless and most likely detrimental to the OS.

That is a huge pagefile but it can't increase temps. However, it can rob your hard drive of space the game needs to expand the game files while playing. Not all of the game files are held in the pagefile.sys which is why some people will get the error message of Low Memory.

Well I've dedicated my first drive to running processes, XP, n' such..........2nd drive is for storing all the programs....shouldn't be a problem, right?
