I had to uninstall the game:cry: :cry: and then the game wouldn't install on my comp on either drives, it would just get to /Object_client.zip, at the begining of the first cd and freeze, i went to the dentist and when i got back it still didn't move so then i installed the game on another computer and sent the files through my LAN and then i put them in program files, however now when i run the 1.02 patch it says cannot find Battlefield 2 folder. Notice i did not violate the Eula because the game is still only on my LAN and i did not distribute. But does anyone know anyway of getting the 1.02 patch to install to my bf2? I cut the entire of string of folders, from EA GAMES>Battlefield 2... on down, and i placed it in my program files so i do not know what is wrong? Any really good pc user out there that can help me out? the patch said "cannot find folder" does anyone know what to do?:cry:

It won't be able to find it because the patch is looking in the default location. If I read you correctly, you have moved the folder but that won't work because the Regestry needs to know where things are too; that's what the installer does, it notifies the regestry.
However, if you are sure it is installed properly and the issue continues to manifest, you can manually install the patch files.
1. Run the 1.02 patch installer again and select the language.
2. Click Next, and then stop on the 'Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Battlefield 2 Patch v1.02' screen.
3. Click on Start and then Run.
4. Type %temp% in the Run box and hit Enter.
5. Click on View at the top of the window and choose Arrange Icons By and then Modified.
6. Scroll to the end of the list. The last folder icon should have an alpha-numeric code for the name such as {3D3B4B03-9974-4B03-B7B2-FAB1919C8E3D}. This code name is randomly generated per system, but should be the last folder listed.
7. Open this folder.
8. There should be another alpha-numeric named folder inside. Open this folder.
9. Click on Edit at the top of the window and choose Select All.
10. Click on Edit again and choose Copy.
11. Close all open windows except for the installer.
12. Open My Computer and navigate to the game folder.
* By default this is C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield2.
13. Once in the Battlefield 2 folder, right-click on an empty space in the window and choose Paste. This should copy the patch files to the game folder.
14. Double-click on the Patch.exe file (the icon for this file looks like a window). This should be one of the files copied over.
15. This will prompt the files to update. When it completes patching, you may close the installer window.
You should now be patched to version 1.02. -

oh well when i run the patch i choose english and then afer it prepares the initializer it closes down, but y'know what i deleted the registry for battlefield 2 but right before i did i made a back up and i saved all files. Should i run the back-up foldeR?
[EDIT] however i just did run the clicked on the backup file but then after it said, are you sure you want to run the back-up file nothing happenend. How bout the patch got any more insight into that?Comment

You could try the backup file but you will most likely have the best success by manually uninstalling the game files and then reinstalling.
You can manually uninstall the game by removing the files and registry keys associated with it. Be sure to follow these steps exactly as they appear to prevent accidental file/program deletion on your system.
To delete the save files:
1.
Open My Documents.
2.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
To delete the game files (in the default location):
1.
Open My Computer.
2.
Open the C drive.
3.
Open the Program Files folder.
4.
Open the EA GAMES folder.
5.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
6.
Close all open windows.
7.
Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.
To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2:
1.
Click on the Start button.
2.
Click on Run.
3.
Type regedit in the text field.
4.
Click File and then choose Export.
5.
Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All.
6.
Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
7.
Click the plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
8.
Click the plus sign next to Software.
9.
Click the plus sign next to DICE.
10.
Right-click on the Battlefield 2 folder and choose Delete.
11.
Click the plus sign next to Electronic Arts.
12.
Right-click and choose Delete on any Battlefield 2 folders.
13.
Click the plus sign next to Microsoft.
14.
Click the plus sign next to Windows.
15.
Click the plus sign next to CurrentVersion.
16.
Click the plus sign next to Uninstall.
17.
Right-click and choose Delete on the key named {04858915-9F49-4B2A-AED4-DC49A7DE6A7B}.
18.
Close the Registry Editor.
Battlefield 2 should now be completely uninstalled. If anything appears to be working incorrectly after editing the registry, simply double-click on the Backup file on your desktop to restore the old registry.

hey when i try to import the registry it says some fopen files or keys are used by the system.

Except thats the whole problem, i cannot re-install the game because when it wants me to insert disc 3 it does not go any further, than /object_client.zip. So i copied the contents. However i can still open the disc and view its contents, it just wont go any farther in the install.Now just reinstall the gameComment

I see said the blind man... Try this:
You may have to perform a manual installation of the game to bypass use of the disk drive and verify integrity of the disks.
Make sure to follow the steps below exactly as they read, or else the install may not work.
1.
Double-click My Computer.
2.
Right-click on the Local Disk C and choose Open.
3.
Right-click inside the window and select New, and then Folder.
4.
Name the folder Disk Images it is important that the name has a space in it.
5.
Double-Click the new Disk Images folder to open it.
6.
Right-click inside the window and select New, and then Folder.
7.
Name this folder Disk1.
8.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 while substituting Disk1 for Disk2 and Disk 3. It is important to note there must not be a space between "Disk" and the number. If you have the DVD version you will only need the Disk1 folder.
9.
Insert Disk 1 of Battlefield 2 into your disk drive and if the autoplay starts, cancel it.
10.
Double-click My Computer to open it.
11.
Right-click on your disk drive and choose Open.
12.
When you see the contents of the disk in the Window, click on Edit at the top of the window and choose Select All.
13.
All the contents of the disk should now be highlighted, click on Edit at the top of the window again and choose Copy.
14.
Open the Disk1 folder you created under C:\Disk Images; click on Edit at the top of the window and choose Paste. This will copy the contents of the disk into the Disk1 folder.
15.
Repeat steps 9 through 14 for Disk 2 and Disk 3 until you have copied each disk into its appropriate folder. If you have the DVD version, you will not need to perform this step.
16.
Once the disks have been copied, remove ALL disks from any drives.
17.
Open the Disk1 folder under Disk Images and double-click on autorun.exe to start the installation.
18. To save disk space, you can delete the Disk Images folders after the installation has completed.
