Reinstall the game. That'll fix it for sure. New hardware will sometimes conflict with the settings in the game.

If you have any refresh force program, disable it. BF2 doesnt like being told what refresh rate to use(forced), select the refresh in the game instead, or in the .con file.

The only reason that would lead me not to belive this (as I did at first) is that the game actually starts up, and does not crash until the load point.

If it boots you back to the desktop, it's the refresh rate. You probably have the in game resolution higher than the LCD because LCD's are usually maxed @ 1280x1024

I will assume you completely uninstalled (checked the registry and My Documents folder) and properly installed your drivers (according to the sticky post at the top of the Hardware forum).....

ok guys, pretty much, if i put the LCD resolution on the video file, it will crash to windows for some reason, i thought that i could put any resolution i wanted, i guess not, maybe is just ATI?? any thoughts?

i had this issue too.. its either the rez or the refresh.. its an easy fix.. (much easier than reinstalling lol).. just go into your documents folder and find the bf2 folder.. delete the profiles... when u come back into the game all the settings will be defaulted making the video 1024x768 @ 60 Hz (even if u log back into with your old account)... done and done... your lcd will support this fine.

the guys who said check your forced settings (in the settings panel for windows) are correct as well if those are set incorrectly it will override the ingame ones and cause the same issue

well i just put the size to 1024/768 and it worked, i didn't have to delete the profile. thanks again everyone. I guess it was only the demo that you could force the LCD resolution?? anyone know it 1.03 might have support for it, thanks alot again.
