who needs engy's in the bh :)

So 6 of us are in TS playing on an EA server, and up comes Songura Stalemate - 64. We're all in a squad, but in China, so we mess around with the Chinese helo for a bit, mess around trying to C4 / Eryx the BH / etc...

We're all in the transport chopper now, flying around capping flags, when we fly over a USMC base, and surprise, a BH is sitting there....

I bail out to steal it, while the transport helo heads to the far northeast flag to cap it and wait for me. I manage to get in the BH, swing the tail around to get a SO trynig to C4 me, and I lift off... However, either an APC or the TOW nearby nails me, and I'm at 4-5 bars of health right after takeoff.

I'm trying to get as much altitude as I can to evade the fire, but they're still hitting me, and now the alarm starts to go off - 1-2 bars -- explosion is imminent.

So I figure, what the heck...I hit F6, switch to the back seat, the BH is spinning out of control. I manage to repair it to 4-5 bars of health, hit F1, take over piloting it, and make it to the base where the rest of my squad is waiting :) lol We managed to keep it for quite a while after that lol

I dont know why but when I try to repair something it repairs REALLY SLOW. How do you engy's do it so fast?

EDIT: (wonders why no one posts)...

I think he was asking "was there only one engineer in the BH", to which I'd say that there was, given the description provided.

Gotta say, I'm in awe at the engineers. They come in very handy and I find it surprising people bother with them, given their crap-at-a-distance shotguns.

There was an engy in the Blackhawk... Change the title!

Well, the pilot was the engy... I've done that before too. Not bad if you're in a pinch and out of range of any enemy fire.

Yay appreciation. I have the worst mixture of favorite activities in BF2: flying and an engineer. Its kind of cool cause I just bomb and strafe ppl until I get a call to repair then go James Bond para on them.

Yes, its slow with 1 engy. The more engy's the faster it fixes. In my case above, I only needed to stop it from blowing up.

There's a thread somewhere that points out you can hit F10 and reduce the bugginess of the repair animation...

Plus with the BH spinning out of control like that, they probably thought you bailed. Reading this will make me think twice next time I see what I think is an empty BH spinning up to that helopad in the sky...
