game usually doesn't load on first try

My BF2 game usually doesn't load up when on the first few attempts. I often have to use CTRL-ALT-DEL to end BF2, and try again. Sometimes it can take up to 10 times before BF2 finally decides to actually launch.

For example, I use All Seeing Eye, and double click a server. ASE closes, and then nothing happens. I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL and BF2 isn't there at all.

Or, ASE closes, the BF2 splash screen pops up, closes, then..... nothing happens. I hit CTRL-ALT-DEL, see BF2 and ~e5something in there, and close them down. So I can try again.

Any idea what's up? It's very frustrating. Sometimes it can take me 30 minutes just to launch the game and get going.
My system specs:
Dell 400SC Poweredge
WinXP, 1 gig of pc3200 RAM, Radeon 9800 pro, MuseXL soundcard

Yes, I have an idea.

Just for testing, disable or actually remove your sound card to see if the game loads properly. I suspect your sound card and/or drivers may be the cause.

OK I found out it was my Anti-Virus program. I thought shutting it down in Task Manager would turn it off, but nope, i had to turn it off within the program first, then shut it down. Once I did that, BF2 loads on the first try everytime.
