    Sad.....so sad....

I bought a 6600 GT beleiving it could run this gam fine on medium settings at 1024*768. Especially since every other guy with a similar system claims to be able to (some even claim high settings!!!).

But unfortunately I must resort to low settings for any decent framerate. This is especially dissapointing since my old card (a FX 5200) could already pull off low settings just fine. I feel totally ripped off.

EDIT: Forgot to list my specs.

    Intel P4 3.0 GHz
    Nvidia 6600 GT 8x AGP
    1 GB DDR RAM

You probably have a bottleneck somewhere. The problem obviously is not with the card.

The other guy states that his 6600GT is PCI express, your is AGP, perhaps that is a factor?

        Re: Sad.....so sad....

I've asked on other forums and in game and all of them say fine on med settings. I'm sure not all of them are PCI-E?

And could it be the RAM? Should I upgrade to 2 GB?

2GB benefits those that run with high settings, medium or low it should make a huge diefference.

Yeah, but is the 1 GB of RAM the bottleneck? Because my processor is fine AFAIK.

Hmm, can't see it in dxdiag. Where can I check?

                    Umm what's that?

EDIT: I don't think it's the RAM though. Never gave me trouble with other games. I can run F.E.A.R. and Doom 3 on high/med-high.

Sorry ... can't find what you are looking for :(

Unzip it to its own directory and run it.

the 6600gt is a low end card, what'd you expect?

I wouldn't say it's low-end, more like mid-range. Like I said everyone I have talked to who owns it said they could run fine on medium, some even on high.

The bottleneck is more then likly caused more background tasks. Just hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and then end all processes except taskmagr.exe and explorer.exe and NOTHING that is LOCAL SYSTEM or anything else relavent. That should free up some RAM.

Next thing I would do is update all your drivers for the card. Then download a program that tells you what kind of frames you're getting.

Because without a doubt you should be able to atleast play on Medium. The 6600GT is a sweet card so you shoulnd't have a problem. Even after you do all that has been mention, not just by me but by others, and the problem still persists I would return the card and get a different make for it. Because different manufacturers do have different settings and speeds...
