I got mine when I was commander, sitting in a humvee's F2 position (while doing a commanders job), defending our base from choppers.... My luck that they did not come.

just get in a server playing a large map like kubra dam and just use the jeeps all round, should get it no problem...

Sitting in a jeep/RIB on the edge of the map isn't exactly helping out your team...
At least do as VeNg3nCe^ and Flatline_hun suggested; be a commander while camping in your boat/car.

I can't believe everyone is so quick to admit that they get these badges by doing bugger all on the edge of the map!

I got this one without realising it. Even if you are not used to driving vehicles just have a game in Karkand or Mashtur or something in one of the APCs or Hummers. At least make an effort to get on the gun and help your team while you are at it. It doesn't have to be continuous (I don't think - somebody confirm?) so it's no problem if you die or get out then get back in.

Yeah, it really is unbelievable what some people would do just to get a virtual badge faster.

It doesn't have to be continuous (I don't think - somebody confirm?) so it's no problem if you die or get out then get back in.

I think you're right; I also just suddenly got this in a game, and I don't think I've ever survived 10 minutes in a vehicle without getting out and back in before.

No it's not continuous, you can get in and out, it's the time over 1 round

Can't see the point, I'm playing the game because I enjoy it and have fun, any rewards I get are a bonus and I'm not going out of my way just to get a badge that I will look at for 5 seconds and then rejoin a server.

I got mine by a "cheap" method, but it was inadvertent. I was MEC commander at Sharqi Peninsula. I took a look at the map, and figured the safest place to command from would be way out in the water at the edge of the map. I hopped in a boat, drove out there, dropped anchor, and proceeded to command. Some time into the match, the transport badge pops out taking me by surprise.

Fair enough.

I think the awards can add something to the game though, things were starting to get a bit repetitive so I thought "I know, I'll see what awards I can get". It gave me the nudge to try some of the other kits. I didn't stats pad with them I just played with them the way they were meant to be played and within a few games had all the basic kit awards.

It felt warm and fuzzy at the time. Think I'll try some of the weapons ones next, running around like a looney with a knife etc.

Even if you aren't too bothered about the "virtual uniform" it still gives a new angle on the game which can offer an alternative to your normal style of play. Admitedly you could do this anyway without the awards as motivation but I found they gave me that little nudge I needed...

For example I never really played sniper, but I figured I'd see if I could get the basic sniper combat badge so had a few games with it. I got the badge and don't play sniper any more, but at least i gave it a shot! Maybe in a few months I'll see about veteran badges and then I'll have to re-visit the lesser-used kits again :)

What I don't like about the veteran kit badges is that they basically award you for playing the same class all the time. I think the time limit has no place there, but should be solely awarded on number of kills. Anyone can be a medic for 250 hours - they just have to have a lot of time to kill. At least with kills there's some sort of skill involved.
