New to FRAPs, got a question..

When I record, my FPS drops horribly. It's barely playable when recording. Is that normal, or is there something wrong that I am doing?

Ever noticed it lags when you take a screenshot. Thats what fraps does, 25-30 times a second, thats why it lags.

I get around 40FPS when not filming with fraps, then 15 FPS when filming. If i get an x850 will i get better FPS?

Try turning the framerate to 30 fps. You're gonna get a fps hit no matter what. Thats a lot of screencaptures at a very high rate of speed eg 30 screenshots per second.

Considering that fraps is taking 30 images a second and rendering them to an avi file on the fly at the same time as playing a game as hungry as BF2, your CPU will be screaming.

Yeah, My mate has the same specs as me, sept for he has an X800XT Plat, and he gets blistering framerates filming (He was the filmer and editer of stunts regeneration and stunts of oman...if you saw )

How much is an X850 XT now? Because I wouldn't recommend getting it, you can get a 7800 GT for $390. Go to newegg.com and filter under vid cads: 7800 GT and XFX as manufacturer. You can get the fastest 78GT for probly cheaper than that x850 pro.

Im from England, and the X850 is pretty cheap, and I have alot of money atm AND i prefer ATI anyway, even though i have a Nvidia atm

Well, seems like you're already going to get a X850XT Turbo (that's from the brand HIS, right? THey have great cooling) according to you're sig. Good luck.

Even if you prefer a brand over another, the 78 GT is a better card. It's kinda stupid just to get a card because of preference, especially when it's a less powerful card. Just my opinion.
