Re: BF2 continues too run
This usually happens when you have a small amount of RAM and play with details set too high, the system is slow to release the RAM so the process continues for up to a minute after you quit the game.

Re: BF2 continues too run
Awesome dude. I have to put out another $150 for another package of 2x512MB dual channel DDR400. Newegg raised the price by $10 since the last time I bought it. I'm gonna try shopping around and see if I can find it somewhere else cheaper. I'm in college so it's not like I can go out and blow money on computer hardware, although I do anyway.
Hey Talus, did you see a big performance increase in MP since you upgraded to 2gigs?

Re: BF2 continues too run
The memory increase will cut down the exit time of BF2 to about 2-3 seconds. It's really one of the most noticable differences when going from 1gig to 2gigs. You don't "need" it but I recommend it.

Re: BF2 continues too run
Or you could do what I did, use separate hard drives for your OS and programs/games. I'm still running with 1gb pc3200 ocz ram (2.1ghz athlon 64) and have no shutdown/minimize lag.

ThanxAs DrunkenPirate says, it is, normal, for a small amount of RAM to take its time to empty out what it's been used for, the same goes for the "virtual memory" with the small amount of RAM.Originally posted by DrunkenPirateThis usually happens when you have a small amount of RAM and play with details set too high, the system is slow to release the RAM so the process continues for up to a minute after you quit the game.
To part solve this issue you could use a RAM optimiser program tool like TuneUp Utilities 2004.
Mmm the min specs and advice for 512 RAM should have come with an advisory notice that min specs will only run for peeps that are PC savvyOriginally posted by TalusHuge performance increase.
I've been preaching 2 GB since I upgraded.
I think the v1.03 will eliminate this 'need' for 2 GB though.

DrunkenPirate your gonna crap your pants when you see your PC bring up apps like Photoshop under 8 seconds. Also you will notice a substantial game play increase, map loading etc.Originally posted by DrunkenPirateI have 2GB being delivered today, can't wait. :)
I got the pleasure of playing BF:2 for about 1 month on 1 gig of ram then when i got my other 1 gig stick I was like OMG The difference is great!
