Wireless network Gaming

Hey all, new here to the forums. Looking forward to kicking it here with you guys.

So as the title explains, is there anyone that has a wireless network setup and plays BF2 online? If so have you been having any lag issues or other loading time issues while connecting to a server? I'm not sure what it is with me but I usually ping pretty high in some servers (as high as in the 150's area) and obiously the admins don't like that so I usualy get the big boot. So any thoughts or comments on this matter?

personally i would think wireless would cause you to lag. i hate wireless cat5 all the way

haha word. Thats what I thought. Thanks for the quick response. Having a wirless network is more of a hassel anyway because you have to worry about securing your network to keep your mooching a$$ neighbors off your bandwidth, not to mention the interference with other signals and crap like that. Looks like i'll be switching back to good 'ol RJ45.

im on wireless right now the game runs fine on Low signal to Excellent, when it gets to very low you will start getting connection hickups

I'm on wireless, and I get anywhere from 10-160 ping, most often in the 60's. I'm very satisified in comparison to my old 56k...

yea i know. i have a wireless card in my computer and i can log onto the internet using my neighbors connection if i wished

Yeah you will have no problems on wireless. Even the slowest wireless 11Mbps is quite a bit faster than the maximum transfer speed you will see over the internet.

I'm running wireless myself and hang around 30 - 60 ping on our server. Only time I notice lag is when everyone else on the server notices it as well. Other than that, smooth.

I wish I could say the same. I always get stuck in the 80-150 area. Iv'e never seen my ping below 80 yet. Maybe it's just my crappy DSL connection here.

I have wireless at home. One PC is connected via a cable, and the other by wireless. The amount of lag is the same on each so I don't think it makes much difference...

As another poster mentioned... ANY wireless network will have faster data transmission capabilities than your Internet connection, so it 'should' not cause lag.

I run 3 systems on wifi in my home and none of them have trouble with lag.
