No sound out of headphones. Any ideas?

I just bought a Logitech gaming headset. I have it plugged into the appropriate jacks (color coded) on my SB Audigy 2 soundcard. All the sound is coming out of my speakers, not the headphones. Am I only supposed to hear other teammate's voices on comm out of the headphones or should I hear the game itself?

    Thanks

p.s. I got this problem fixed, but now I can't get the mic to work in game. It works in the setup, but not in game. I read a guide that said to turn the mic threshold down to 0% when testing. I did this and I could hear myself on the headset but in game, I hear nothing. I don't get an icon when I am speaking, either.

    HELP!

I am using an audigy 2 zs with latest drivers. I have audio renderer in game set to software and audio quality set to medium. eax is enabled.

You should hear the game itself as well as the comm voices on the headset. Do you have more then one place to put in the plugs IE, do you have integrated sound as well as a sound card, you could be plugging them into the wrong jacks. The easiest way would be to keep the Mic in the mic slot and test it in the sound recorder, if that works just fine then leave it where it is, if that doesn't work, look for another Mic slot...I have a feeling you're plugging it into the integrated sound ports.. if thats the case your mic wont work and you'll have another area to plug the mic into.

Now onto the sound comming into the head phones...once you figure out where the Mic is supposed to go, just plug the audio plug into the port you plug your speakers into.

I have them in the right jacks. Onboard sound is disabled in bios.

I did as you said and put the hp jack into the speaker jack and that worked. What a pain in the ass. Are you telling me I now have to plug and unplug the headset each time I play this game? I don't want to listen to music from these cheesy $14 headphones when not playing the game. I want to use my $200 speakers. Oh well, thanks for your help.

Some computers have headphone jacks in the front of the machine, it may look a little tacky at first, but some headphones what seperates the headphone plug from the microphone can be pulled apart, only a thin layer of plastic holds them together. if your headphones are like that, then just split them, run the mic to the back, and then plug the headphones in the front. that way you dont have to touch the speakers, just plugging in and unplugging the headphone plug will disable/enable them.

I dont have headphone jacks in the front, only the back.

What's weird is in the game controls, I tested my microphone. I could hear myself over the headphones fine, but in game, nothing. I kept asking in game if people could hear me. Nothing. I also didn't see the icon you see when someone is talking.

          It's so lame.

You could buy a stereo headphone splitter like this . The only problem is if the headset does not have volume then you will loose power to the speakers and it will sound quieter.
