Custom maps

Has anyone tried these (especially the totalbf2 map pack)? I have, and I must say, I'm very impressed. It's a shame so few people play them.

Well because ranked servers. You can't play custom maps. Every one wants new guns. So they only play on Ranked servers.

You can't? I recall seeing a ranked server with the wake island map on it. Either way, it would be really nice if EA could allow these maps to be played on ranked servers.

As for what they are like, they are all very original. I downloaded the TotalBF2 map pack and, for example, one map is an urban map IN CHINA, and it actually looks like a pretty convincing city. Another is in the middle east at about sun rise, with a gaint grain silo in the middle of it which you have to climb/fly to the top of to get the flag. And there's one which is a shallow river filled with tall grass, which really screams "vietnam".

I'm starting to get tired of just playing the ones the game came with, hopefully EA (if they haven't already) will make a patch to allow atleast some of these maps on ranked servers. They are that good.

Wake Island will be included in the next patch, and be official.
I think over time, you'll see custom maps included as being "official" so they can be played on ranked servers. EA will HAVE to do this, to keep the longevity of the game. Just think about mods.............
I mean, people are gonna be alittle slow at playing the mods because of them being non ranked. EA will have to give official status to "some" mods as well, as eventually people will just say "screw it" and start playing the maps, and mods they want, regardless of ranking.
But im fairly certain, Great maps, and great mods, will become official.

TBF2 Map Pack is self install, usually your maps go here:
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Levels (Or whatever directory you installed to)

I'm running a custom map only server. BF2 map pack1 and a few others.
