    civil era... eh? Eh?

well in my history class we have been studying the revolution, and i am thinking how cool it would be to have a game like bf2 except it would be the civil war with civil war weapons, vehicles(carraiges, lol) and have it be realistic like it would take 5 seconds to reload because thats how it was back than
any thought? good idea/ bad idea? i think its a good idea
lets here some honosty here. :)

5 seconds to reload...porbably 20 secs with the best guys....and the problem is people just run around and do sharpshooting, not lining up and shooting....so its never really that fun.

Yeah and of course bunnyhopping unless you would reduce the amount of a jum and make the mod slightly similar to the battlegrounds mod for HL1/2. Not bad idea tho.

well you could have difrant kinds of soldiers(ie- the continental army and the british's main army were the ones who stood their ground, and for the united colony's they had the militia and minute men who would do what they wanted, and the brits had the hessian mercenaries)////// and about the bunny-hopping yeah they would have to make it so that bunny hopping would not be a factor, by changing the jump height from 100 feet in the air to like 1.5 foot high, and make it so you could earn upgrades(ie-faster reloads, more ammo, food rations and many other additions) seems like a very cool idea and i hope someone invests into it because i am not that good of a modder(ive never modded before) it would also be good if they researched the areas where the main combat took place(ie- philidelphia, battle of breed hill)and made them into good maps that are realistic,/// maybe when the realistic mod team or whatever they are called(sorry i forgot) is done with their mod they are working on right now they could start on this one.

A mod like this isn't really playable without bayonets and other melee weapons.

yea i loved the mod hor hl1 and i think this would be great on the bf2 engine. but yea like it would only be really fun if the guys liked lined up and shot in a line not just bunny hopping around. but still a good idea.. Btw is there a battlegrounds for hl2?

20s? Nah they were firing up to 11 shots a min in american civil war days, they were firing over 6 shots a min in the war of independance when you beat off us brits ... well the brittish were anyway

you can get 2 or 3 shots off in 30 seconds, but thats only when you dont have 200 guys on the other side firing at you. i think 2 shots every 30 seconds in battle. Also it will never be like the civilwar because i dont think anyone will want to lineup and fire at eachother. So it will be like bf2 today but slower, also most guys will rather get the pistol out for more shots. Im thinking custards last stand era because there rifles are faster to reload.

Civil war wasn't all line battles. Later in the war they discovered the concept of cover.

At one point (Petersburg) it turned into WWI-type trench warfare, complete with obstacles, bunkers, mortars...everything but tanks and poision gas.

I dont remember the Americans "beating off" Brits...those most have been some pretty retarded times.

Some people on this thread are getting the US Civil War and American Revolution confused.

yeah about that, sorry if i confused some people(especially when i gave some of that specific info) but when i said civil era i meant the American Revolution(around the making ans signing of the Decleration Of Independance)
