    Codename Eagle : BF's Predecessor

Hey guys, if you're interested in playing Codename Eagle, the predecessor to the Battlefield series. And if you haven't got a copy of the game already, you can download the free multiplayer demo here: http://70.24.120.170/yoclan/download...ulti_V1.42.exe

The demo is only 76mb and it's been patched to work online! So why not give the game a try?

The ingame browser only shows lan games, so you'l either have to download Gamespy 3D OR read the details on how to join servers without having to use Gamespy here: http://invisionfree.com/forums/Codename_Ea...p?showtopic=354

Codename Eagle, for those who haven't played the patched multiplayer, is a far simpler and arcade version of the Battlefield games that followed. And has it's own unique and extremely funny gameplay, including blimps, bi planes, crazy helicopters, motorbikes, awesome explosions and even a mysterious teleport.

You can run around and jump continously, never need to reload, have 200 automatic pistol/MG ammo, tnt, gas guns, flame throwers, rapid straight firing rocket launchers, high velocity - extreme ranged sniper rifles and ride ontop of vehicles without dieing, so you can planesurf of course.

The gamemode is CTF and you have every vehicle to your disposal. There's no forced teamplay unlike the BF games and therefore any team member can go off on their own like a commando wearing 200 armour and several weapons if they want to. Not to say there's no chance of teamplay because there is. You can fly a teammate into the enemy base, let them pickup the flag, swoop down and pick them up again and return to base and let them capture it. There's many ways you can work together.

There is no kit system, instead you run around your base picking up weapons and items such as health, ammo, parachute, repairs, fuel and armour. Making the gameplay complex in it's own way.

Did i mention there is a massive blimp? And that the game is extremely funny? :P

    See you there. :)

Codename Eagle was released way back in 1999 and was poorly published and therefore not very well known, the single player was also a big let down, but those that did stick around for the game to get patched have played the mutliplayer since then. The mp demo was patched to v1.42 so it would work with online servers recently.

I've been playing more of this lately then i have been playing BF2.
