Ever have some idiot bail on in flight?

I really don't get why people get in helos or jets only to bail out leaving the hapless gunner to go down in flames. I have had this happen to me on a number of occasions. Sometimes I recognize what is going on in time to hit F1 and take over the craft. Most of the time I'm busy gunning to notice the dolt has bailed out. They don't bail because of damage. I think they just want a fast ride to a certain spot.

Today I had my squad leader bail on me over Mashtuur City in that clunker MEC transport chopper. No warning, nothing. The next thing I know I'm upside down and too late to eject. Of course I calling him the biggest f'ing loser ever which resulted in me being kicked (again) for cursing. It's all so stupid. It makes you not want to play as often. A squad leader bailing on one of his mates. It's just mind blowing.

ROFL that happened to me once and thank goodness only once! When gunner you tend to concentrate fully on the gunner role and hope your fellow pilot is average at flying. Thing is you don't really know when the sucker has bailed as you tend to find pilots (including myself) who go really close to ground and fly all psycho like would be nice to have an alarm :P

Yeah many times and it really bugs me, I mean they have normally a quarter health left, just duck low put on some speed and away you go, or if not use the bail and let everyone know that the pilot is a scared wuss and leaving mid flight.

          I do it often.

Not on purpose, but I hit the wrong key and out I go. Usually, I'll ride the chopper until its grizzly end.

I use VOIP though so I can alert my gunner to what has happened.

That's why I fly with joystick only - now way to hit the E key if it is half a meter away from you. However, it does get a bit a hassle to say "bail out" if the other guy is not on the same voice channel (squad).
I never bail my aircraft. I die with it. Same thing with a tank. If I can't repair it, I die in it. That's the way people should play it. I hate how fast you can bail tanks. Should be fixed to 2 seconds imho...
I think that once a vehicle reaches the point where it's burning, you should, like in RL have no way of getting out. All you then should be able to hear in your speakers is AAAAAAAAAAARRRGGH!! Maybe a small animation of you crawling out of the small hatch burning and trying to get some cool air... This is one thing that i hate the most about this game, how quick people can bail. It's really coward if you ask me.
So many times have I seen an idiot bail a perfectly intact vehicle - not even in the red, they just run away and leave it there for the enemy soldier to pick up... Problem is the vehicle will not spawn for your own team until it has been distroyed.

The patch should add a pilot ejection light or warning sound to let an assisting player(s) know.

                Yup...Great idea.

Or the pilot should not be able to jump first :p (The captain leaves the ship last )

I had that problem the other day with this total idiot. My friend and I were using the helicopter, we land at a base so I can get out and repair it, he promptly steals it. I jump in and say "bail out" and he says "negative."

Then he flies to the next base and jumps out as we diving toward the base. He says "bail out" to me as he is already on the ground. Luckily, there were no enemies in the base and I saw his little light go away. I quickly got into the pilot positon, cranked back and went full throttle. . . but it was too late, on my way back up, I smacked into a building and went down in flames. My friend was just laughing at me because he saw the whole thing.

I was once co-pilot in the SU-34 on Gulf of Oman, the retard who was flying flew approaching to carrier, giving me good sights, so i smashes some missiles into the AA position, and the deck, then suddently i think "Why don't be pull up?". Then i crash into the carrier saying:

                    PBAsydney[SU-34]Someone
                    PBAsydney[Su-34]Anotherone
                    PBAsydney is no more.

No pilot, he musta bailed or something.

I always go down with the plane, as the japanese pilots said: "The cockpit is a sacret place where you shall lose your life sooner or later."

Re: Ever have some idiot bail on in flight?

Ya know what though, people really don't pay attention. Oftentimes, if my team is getting pounded with artillery, I'll go Spec Ops and spawn at the airfield to catch a fast ride into the heart of enemy territory to destroy assets.

By the time I get the engine fired up, someone's jumped into my gunner's seat. I have WRITTEN OUT that I'll be bailing over enemy assets, and still they insist on staying. If they'd wait the 5 seconds it takes me to get over there and airdrop in, they'd get a respawn on the aircraft and have it to themselves.

Re: Ever have some idiot bail on in flight?

Imo you have no right to take a plane just to bail over enemy assets. Get out, let him pilot, then return as copilot and ask him to let you bail over enemy territory.
In the time that you take the plane and let it crash the enemy pilot will bomb everything that moves, mow down attack choppers. All this while you feel you have done something good.
I know you have good intentions, but the way you proposed reaching your goal is in my opinion not really a decent way...

bailing in-flight is a cowardess act.

The pilot should go down with the ship, period.

I've managed to make it back to base on fire, 1/2 bar of health, and still get there b4 explosion to fix....cracks me up seeing peeps bail as soon as you take a stinger round.

Just keep your eye on the green dot, at the bottom in the helicoptor icon, where the pilot is located when your not flying!
