I just got my new computer so I can run bf2 on high settings. everytime I get into a game, almost immediately it says that I have lost connection to the server. Is this anything besides my connection? My connection is DSL and it has always been steady.

I have exactly the same thing happen to me and Ive been working on it for about a week and still no luck. There seem to be two connection lost catergories. Those that lose while playing or after a while playing and those like us who get it upon joining a server. There seem to be fixes for the first type but as yet I havent seen an answer for our problem.
Its not firewall
Its not ISP
Its not Gcard
Its not RAM
Its not router(if you have one)
Its not the ports(udp and TCP)
Its not ingame settings
Its not Pbuster
Its not patch version.
Its not a page file problem.
TBH I am left clueless now but good luck to you:/ -

Re: Lost Connection
If you're using a router and/or firewall, disconnect it and plug directly into your DSL modem. Try playing like that and if it works then it's your firewall/router config., if it still drops you it's something else and we'll have to address that.Originally posted by MikeGI just got my new computer so I can run bf2 on high settings. everytime I get into a game, almost immediately it says that I have lost connection to the server. Re: Lost Connection
Hi,
This sounds like exactly the same problem I have. I've been trying to get online for an hour tonight and can't connect to a single server successfully.
It verifies client data, then goes to the game screen. Sometimes you get a snippet of the comms and sound, but most of the time you just get the equipment screen and the "There is a problem with your connection" message.
I've got the batch file running to sort out the memory priority, run smart close before BF2 and also update PB.
This is really driving me nuts.
Ping to the server doesn't make a difference and I don't see how it can be firewall related as I've had a couple of nights playing successfully on servers with varying port numbers.
Any ideas???
Thanks,
Mike.Comment

Re: Lost Connection
Hi Mike,
I posted this same thing in another thread, but I dont suppose your system includes one of the new Dual-Core Processors? I was having a problem where everytime I joined a server, I could get as far as choosing my weapons before being disconnected. I found that by setting the Affinity on bf2.exe to only one core it solved my problem.
Hope this helps lots of you!Comment
