Question for the Aussies

Do any of you guys play on North American servers? Or do any of the people in North America play in the aussie servers? And if you do, how bad is your ping? The reason I ask is because I work a crazy schedual, one that is not conductive to match play here in north america, but the time I get off work, works out perfectly for matches in the Queensland timezone. Do you guys get decent pings in the North American servers? I'm just wondering what I can expect if I were to join an Aussie server. I'd check it out myself, but I just moved, so I wont have broadband for another 25 days, so I thought I'd ask you guys here on the boards. I work Monday-friday 3pm to 12am. Which would be 4pm in the queensland time zone, which would work out perfectly, since I'm up till about 5am my time, 9pm yours.

I posted this in one of the recruiting threads, but more people frequent this board then the clan page, so I thought I might get a quicker answer here. Thanks to anyone who can answer my question

Bump...I dont want this thread to slip away....its only 12:30pm in Australia, so dozens of aussies could be logging on in the next few hours....

Anyway when I play on Aussie servers (I'm Western USA) my pings is about 150-200, I have BroadBand so I guess that means something too.

Yup, pings should be between 150 and 250ms. Remember though , a lot of australian BF2 servers have a low ping only policy.

I generally play on Australian servers, as they ping better, and prefer the ones that are Australian only, so as to spare me from some of those whiny unbroken Seppo voices that sound exactly like a parody of themselves.

In additition, I find that Australian servers seem to have a lower level of dickheads and lamers (with the possible exception of LAB)

The internode servers are often good, and there's a stack of em. Saves letting server list update forever.

I usually only play on aussie severs, but have played with 200-250 ping on USA servers.
I have met good many great yanks in the early hours of the morning, good players too.

lots of yanks play on internode very early in the morning when its around lunchtime over there i think. they get about 250 ping

Now my next question, would a 250 ping be playable in a 32 player server? Or would it be choppy as hell? Lets assume your computer has no problem running the game on med/high

Yes, can confirm that there does indeed seem to be fewer idiots on our servers here in Australia in comparison to some West Coast USA ones. Fewer Bunny Hoppers, although there often seems to be one intentional TK'er on the Internode servers quite a bit. I don't know why.

Use the internode server, some or maybe most do not have a country filter present and one can join the fun and killing that is Aussie BF2.

Should be quite OK, although it can get a bit laggy at certain times, but not too bad.

Just note that many servers here will kick with pings higher than 300.

Also on the Internode servers, don't ever be tempted to attack or rape an uncappable flag as you'll get hit with a weeks ban as I found out.

Oh god, please don't come into our servers.

You ruin them ping wise.

Honestly, why can't the "powerhouse" economy of America have enough servers, without lagging up the Australian ones.

The few times I've been in american servers (back when there was'nt any country blockers, and you american's filled our servers), I've had torrents of abuse wash through the server at me and just generally.

Also, it's not "Queensland" Time Zone, it's Australian Eastern Standard Time. Encompassing pretty much all of the east coast, except when Daylight Savings is in effect in some states.
