    Question about hardware audio/sound card

Hi all I would like to know if there is a third party driver/patch out there that can make the soundblaster live 24 bit work in hardware mode without any issues ?It seems to work perfectly with the environement sounds (hardware mode-medium quality) but the problem is that the game voices/taunts (like Enemy Chopper spotted !!!) sounds like a cd that is skipping/stuttering.It get annoying after a while. Now i do know that only the Audigy 2 and better cards support the hardware mode and i know that some people will tell me to run in software mode but the reason im asking this is because running in hardware mode seem to give me smoother gameplay. Not to mention that the sound quality is much better than in software mode.I have looked a bit around the forum with the search engine but i don't seem to find anything about this. Also , i don't know if i'm posting this in the right forum so mods feel free to move it if not. Thanks in advanceGS

Re: Question about hardware audio/sound card

Actually this kind of stuttering is an issue I have had with several Creative cards including my current Audigy2. I actually had a problem in BF2 too. Try downloading that OpenAL update from Creative and also check for newer drivers. There is also a PCI latency tool available that you can check out. PCI latency should be minimum 32. Some recommend 64 but I got slower performance. I also reduced the latency of my graphic card and it seemes to work fine. Try these settings: Hardware -> Medium quality and EAX enabled.

I had the same problem and updated my Sound Blaster driver and its gone. Of course after that I had several days of the sound glitching and freezing on me, but has gone away since.
