I really want to know how to free chat when playing battlefield 2. I can access the screen but once I have typed it tells me I have an error something about syntax. Please can someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

free chat? You mean like MSN or something? "J" key then typing types messages. Or if youre in a squad "b" key + MIC = walky talky fun :) -

Or K if you just want to talk to your own team.
How many times have I been typing a message though thinking I was in a safe spot and then someone starts shooting at me! You start to panic and the only way out is escape... I think there should be a way to overide the chat whilst still keeping your text, like hold shift then you can run/shoot etc.
It is annoying to write a long message that's not finished then have to quickly cancel it to dodge a bullet!Comment

yes.. to talk every one press "j" just your own team press "K" and just your swquad "L"... and to chat to your squad using your mic press and hold "B".....
if you press "~" and try type you'll get a messige like the one you are revievingComment
