    System speed after BF2 exit

The BF2 interface is very slow, but livable.
One thing that really frustrates me is the speed of my machine when ever I quit BF2 to windows (XP). After a while the my machines does speed up (eventuallly!).

My machine is not slow (3gh, pro 9800-5.8 catalyst, 1024mb).

Any help would be appreciated on changes to improve both of these areas, sorry if I have missed a thread that already has these answers.

its your computer recovering the memory used by bf2.
if the rest of your system is up to scratch, try adding more RAM. That will speed up the recovery but at a cost.
I prefer to get a drink or some food while my system comes back

Its gotta be your ram, because as soon as I hit exit on BF2 my computer is back to desktop with no music, no lag. 2 Gigs is awesome.

You can press CTRL+ALT+Del and endtask on BF2.exe.
I have noticed on my system with 1.5GB RAM that the game consumes as much as 800MB of RAM and is slow to release it.

I noticed an incredible increase in recovery time after closing BF2 once I upgraded to 2gigs of ram. It used to lag for a while and take a while to shutdown BF2, now once I click exit it only takes 2-3 seconds.

I quite enjoy listening to the BF2 soundtrack while the rest of Windows is recovering after closing BF2 down

                  Spot on NoB33r4u dude!
philmo, rather than splashing out on RAM, you could Google and look for some fee software that optimises the running of your ram for now?

Yep 2GB of RAM is the answer to many of BF2's problems :p . I still only have 1GB but am getting a new computer in about 2 weeks. I opened the task menu while in a full 32-man server once, and it said approx. 1200MB of memory was being used on my computer
