Re: Myth Busting - TK Punish

It is definitely -4 for initial TK penalty... Then ANOTHER -4 if punished. Done.

I have noticed that some servers do not allow you to punish... not sure how, but I jump into a clan server that is set that way every now and then. I do NOT punish UNLESS it is an absolutely and obvious purposeful TK. I have been TKed purposely for my kit (PKM), for my tank/plane/helo, and for talking sh*t (hehe). The TK for my kit - I watched the as*hole pick up the kit immediately after shooting me at pointblank range, and he had the nerve to say "thanks, I owe you one" with the comm rose...

I would also like to be able to counteract the negative points that someone driving me around gets for those off-the-wall TKs where the vehicle was destroyed, but he gets TKs for everyone on board at the time. Those were some of the most ridiculous moments of the game - it is very much fair.

You lose 2 points for 'team damage', and 4 points for a TK. I believe 'team damage' is classified as somewhere between 40-50 damage (40%-50% of a life bar). One-hit kills, such as when you run over someone in a vehicle, kill them with a landmine, C4, or claymore, or even knife them, immediately trigger the 'TK', completely bypassing the team damage portion. If you shoot someone in the chest with an M16 until you kill them, you'll probably lose 8 points in total, 2 x 2 team damage points, and another 4 points for the TK. That's 8 points. Shoot them in the head with an AK101, and it's an instant-kill, thus only the 4 points for the TK. The reason the original poster was only losing 4 points was because a knife is an instant kill. The person TKing you for your kit was probably using his gun and shooting you in the chest, giving the guy team damage penalties (x2), and finally the TK, for a total of -8.

Sorry, but all numbers given so far are inconclusive.

It is a known fact that penalties are server values that can be modified. The default value is -4 for a tk, -2 additional for a punish, and -2 for team damage. Ranked servers that do not have this at the default are breaking the ToS and the EULA that they agreed to when the server was created.

However, (if I had the money), I could easily make a ranked server that grabbed a few hundred points off of you if you were tked, and yet gave you the points back if you were punished.

This sounds the most accurate to my experience so far, always getting -4 for the TK if they forgive and -6 if they dont, with occasional -8 if i wound them first (the most frustrating of all )

It always happens too fast in-game to be 100% sure but i am convinced that is the correct answer from more recent attempts to work it out myself.

LOL, no doubt hey! Lot's of different views here.

What is indisputable however is that you do not lose any points if someone punishes you. Sure you may get more than -4 if you cause team damage or vehicle damage before the TK but the punish will not cost you any points.

Re: Myth Busting - TK Punish

It is soo funny that most kiddies on the servers nowadays don't even wait a second to punish. It's almost immediate, with like 25ms delay after the TK.
Just got kicked off a server yesterday when I was a copilot and bombing the crap out of the enemies. I was doing first in the score list with about 60 pts. then one of my laser guided missiles MISSES and instead hits one of my own team's fully loaded APC's. All I could see after that was , you got punished, punished, punished, punished... stutter... blank screen, you were kicked from the server for excessive teamkilling.
It's such a dry feeling when there's nothing you can do about this, and I am a very careful player - especially if I am gunner on a helo, or copilot on a jet... Just can't help it.

I got kicked off last night due to some fool who kept on hiding under the plane, but if I got out the plane he wouldn't take it he would just wait, how very odd, I wanted to reach over the net and punch his little 12 year old head in to be honest, for the second time in a weak I have almost finished playing for good, but then I went on a nice clan server and that made me feel good again.

But it was 4 TK punish before I was kicked
