    Myth Busting - TK Punish

It is commonly believed that you lose an extra 2 points if someone punishes your TK.

After a little experimenting with a friend on our server however, I noticed that this isn't the case.

I firstly knifed him after which I lost 4 points. After he respawned I knifed him again and asked him to punish me. I was surprised to learn that I lost 4 points with the punish rather than the expected 6.

I'll soon be experimenting with how punishing effects the TK autokick.

the punish is only to vote you off the server. 3 people who say yes to punish you and you are automatically kicked. It's always been 4 points per tk

It has been said before, but I say it again:

If someone in his right mind forgives a TK, why take points away from the TK'er? Accidents do happen and there are increasing amount of players that understand it.

I believe the amount of TKs required is set by the admin. Our server is set to 7 as there are usually admins present to take care of real TKers. As I said, I will be testing this soon.

Try it out again, I'm certain of the results I acheived. Be sure you don't cause any team damage or vehicle damage before the TK.

Because, accident or not, you still killed a teammate and deserve to lose points. My only exceptions to this are when they run over mines that have been left there for a while or if they stand in front of your vehicle. The former would be easy to determine, the latter would be very difficult if not impossible.

the most you can get for teamkilling one person is -6. if hes in a jeep and u bomb him with the f15 and it doesnt explode straight away, its -2 for team vehicle damage then he dies seconds later and its -4 for teamkill

The most you can lose for a TK is 8. 4 + 4. That's the way it's always been.

If you get enough punishes, you're kicked. If you're on a server where punishing is disabled, you cannot be kicked (unless by an admin).

Yes it's -4 for the TK itself no matter what the victim does. However sometimes you can inflict team vehicle damage or team damage and get an additional -2. Many people who say that Tks subtract 4 if they punish probably just got team vehicle or team infantry damage as well which can happen even if the shot/bomb/shell is a 1 hit kill.

The people who say that it subtracts another 4 if you're punished are correct.

If you get points taken from you for friendly vehical damage why the hell do you not get points for enemy vehical damage. sorry tangent rant. But many a time playing as AT I put two rockets in to a tank and someone puts a third into it and they get the kill and I get nothing. grrr.

You'd get a kill assist if you did enough damage. I believe over half is the requirement.
