Excellent news, custom maps finally I assume this is an unranked server? If so i will be there sometime to have some fun. Do you ever run knives/shock paddles only? That cracks me up having 30 people tring to electrocute each other "CLEAR!!!!" Had a few m8s playing on a LAN here like that.

Incidently, whoaa big map sizes and why are they .exe? is it a self-extracting archive? no matter i will know in a few minutes... downloading (and virus scanning, hehe) Now!

Yep, the server is unranked

And yes, we often have knives/paddles only games for the fun of it.

The maps are in exe format as they are self-extracting, they extract to Program Files/EA GAMES/BF2/.... by default, for your convinience.

Why are they EXE files?

For those of you who arnt aware how maps can be "zipped" and installed etc.
And the fact that, im going to be honest...

I build viruses (occasionally), but for good cause, so they call it

A good trojan is about 5-20KB depending on its sole design, some range up to 200kb depending on their duties and higher, and some can be designed to be un-detectable by virus protectors, and reproduce, so on so forth.

Just safeguard info before you "dive" in, people under estimate the risks they take.

I can appreciate any concerns about them being exe files, I'm always sceptical about downloading exe files. But they were made so for convinience and to avoid confusion about where to extract the files to.

I can assure people 100% that these files do not contain any kind of virus.

we had problems when using winzip,
that when people used winrar,it would drop 2 folders with the same name,
making the maps not work,
do all the virus checks you like on the exe file packages,
you will not find anything currupt in them,

Yes, you should scan all downloads before installing them to your PC.

"BUT" (just to clear a few things up)>>>>>.......

NB it is not in any way a benefit to any map maker, clan or squad's, to include viruses or Trojans into map files.

I know that Alpha squad / clan have been going for years and pride themselves on a high standing moral gaming attitude, to have and provide fun for themselves and others, adding to that mature reasoning and friendship.

I am proud to be a new kid on the block Alpha member.

Suggestion - take your editor files out of you clien/server zips will greatly decrease the size of your maps - and also prevent others from editing your map.
