That maddly patch (1.02), don't know what hell happen

I've tried to install that sick patch 1.02 with both files (zipped and install exec), and nothing.
The executable fails allways and the zipped went for a looooong time and reported a mixed info (some files patched and other failed) but in the end, game crashed, takes me allways to desktop without any image of the game (not even the login).
By night will try to see what happen, but till then some input would be appreciated.

In case you haven't tried it yet: I would uninstall BF2, reinstall it and try to patch the game again. Your stats won't be deleted as they aren't stored on your computer.

Might be that your patch files are corrupted or something so you'll might want to try to download the patch again.

If you experience similar errors with other programs your OS could be messed up too. A virus scan of your HDD's or a new installation of your OS might help. But I would try the last thing as a last resort only. :)

I haven't done that yet.
This behavoir is much like when i 1st install the game but no good video card. Played well (w/ better vid card) till now this patch.
