You installed the mod correctly right? Just put the mod folder inside of your C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods folder. If you put it inside your mods\bf2 folder then you overwrote your bf2 install. Mods when installed should look like this:
If that's what your mods folder looks like it probably wasn't a conflict with the modded folders in there.
You could also look through your bf2 folder and make sure everything looks normal, and be sure you're not booting up the mod when you start bf2 of course :PComment
