    Drop Ropes for Blackhawks

If you've ever found yourself sitting in a blackhawk as it hovered 20 feet or so off the ground above a flag and wanted to jump down to secure the ground, you've probably hesitated to do so due to the fact that once you jump you don't have sufficient distance to pull your parachute. It is therefore that you remain sitting inside the fuselage of the aircraft and become easy pickings for any nearby at soldier or anyone with access to a heavy machine gun.

I propose that passengers in blackhawks get drop ropes that they can activate (using any suitable key) to descend from a blackhawk onto a target area by sliding down a rope (similar to using shift on ladders as you descend). In this way, the blackhawks would take on more of a troop transport role rather than a gunship airsupport role. One might make the argument that the helo could just land in the desired LZ and drop off the troops, however to do such a thing in a potentially hot LZ would be quite dangerous for the pilot and the crew.

Just think how cool it would look to see a blackhawk hovering over a building in a hostile area as 4 ropes drop to the roof and a squad slides down to secure the rooftop and then on to the street.

Anyway, just thought it might make the game a bit more interesting. Perhaps in a mod?

good idea.....that would be kool...and you can climb back up the rope just like you would do in rope climbing in Tactical Training in the U.S Army

the idea is nice, but have you noticed what happens when you run down a stair in a hurry? I think it'd end up in a big pile of marine-goo underneath a dangling rope

But then the soldiers could hang on the ropes while the pilot of the blackhawk is flying at great heights, guess it would be cool for the stunt community

I can just see it now

            VOIP:

pilot: get on the ropes now, I'll bring you guys in nice and easy!
soldier 1 & 2: roger that sir! *descending rope.. 'we're in position sir!'
pilot: roger that, coming in to the hot zone!
soldier 1 & 2: *shouting* pull up! pull up! TREEEEEEE!!! PULL...¨* *splat*
pilot: woohoo, now I can start a new morose thread about a new inventive way to annoy people!

It's funny that you mention that, I had just read an article in the EGM magazine or Computer Gaming Magazine (can't remember which one)

They asked that specific question, as mentioned in a previous post, it was added during BETA, but they realized that most people didn't even bother, they would just jump and chute their way out. :)

Special Forces will have it though, which I can't wait for. It won't be for the BH, but it will be an option you can use. That and the zip-line...oh my!

thats the thing that annoys me with EA/DICE.. cutting off cool stuff coz "uhm, will people use it?!"

                  that costed us:

                  -Laser designation
                  -BlackHawk ropes

                  *cries*

both things would be uber cool

                        Re: Drop Ropes for Blackhawks

Wouldn't this bring a whole new meaning to Black whoring? BH can already get 6 people in it, perhaps more? With ropes added people will hang from the ropes meaning 4 drop ropes would allow up to 10 players in a BH which therefore will lead into instant flag captures.

                          Re: Drop Ropes for Blackhawks

Here's what I want. I want them to increase the capacity for a BH by like 2 guys. Then, make flags only cap-able from the ground. This way a pilot has to find a spot to touch down and drop off his squad, then let them take the flag. In the mean time, he circles above with his 2 crew chiefs (mini gunners) providing cover. Then he picks them back up and they move on. I think it would be pretty cool to see a BH touch down and have six guys working as a TEAM move out to cap a flag. Although fast ropes would be really cool. The same thing would apply with them, the squad would have to be on the ground to cap the flag.

                            Laster Designater
                            M82
                            civilian car
                            fastroping etc etc
