Wake Island 2007?

On the Ears online lab test server they have been testing a map called Wake Island 2007. On the EA forums they have some news in dutch about the map being included in the patch.

Vandaag heeft EA bevestigd dat in de nieuwe 1.1 patch, waar wij eerder al uitgebreid over berichtten, een nieuwe versie van de oude BF1942 map Wake Island zit. Deze nieuwe "Wake Island 2007"-map is een 1 op 1 remake van één van de populairste Battlefield mappen. De map is wel een stuk groter gemaakt om de vliegtuigen uit BF2 meer ruimte te geven. De vliegtuigen uit Battlefield 2 zijn een stuk sneller dan de oude vliegtuigen uit Battlefield 1942 zijn. Op Wake Island vechten de Amerikanen tegen het Chinese "People's Liberation Army". De nieuwe patch komt 3 oktober uit.

Translation: Today EA has confirmed that in the new 1.1 patch, where we reported earlier already extended concerning a new version of the old BF1942 map wake Island sits. This new wake Island 2007"-map is 1 on 1 remake of one of the most popular Battlefield mappen. The map, however, a piece has been made larger give the planes from BF2 more spaces. The planes Battlefield 2 are a piece faster than the old planes from Battlefield 1942 is. On wakeIsland the Americans fight against the Chinese "People's Liberation Army". The new patch comes up 3 October.

Just another possible rumour however at this point i'd say it's probable that we'll see a wake island 2007 in the patch.

I'm still a little puzzled by this choice of map. The city maps are by far the most popular (Karkand, Mastuur and Sharqui), and also the MEC. I guess this map has been in the works long before the game hit the shelves.

Will the PLA get an aircraft carrier of some sort?

Yeah, We'll see Wake Island 2007 in the patch as it probly wont be released until 2007.

Wake is a tried and true good map. they cant go wrong to remake it

Good choice for a map.
Hope the rumors are true.

Remaking El Alamien, and Berlin would be awesome, too.

Maybe add Germany? :p They already have 2 weapons for them.

it would be nice to see bf1942 maps on battlefield 2 since i think they were alot better than the new ones for vehicle wars, GIVE US BF1942 MAPS!!! heheheh cant wait to have ww2 mods with remodeled versions of 1942 :P
