    Fixed my CTD

    Hey all,

I sorted my CTD let me give you a run down.

    I was running:

    P4 2.8GHz H/T
    512mb samsung RAM
    2X 120GB HD
    FX 5200 128mb:cry:
    250w PSU
    driver 77:30

Yes i had to run BF2 on low settings for a while until my upgrade but it ran ok with the stutter and all that you get with the low end cards and RAM.

I added another 512mb kingston RAM and a 6600GT 128mb thats when the probs started i was getting CTD's between 2-20 mins in game sometimes the game didnt boot up at all, now im not a tech with pc's so iv been trawling the net for the info i needed and couldnt find the exact same problem so i did a format and it was still the same so i had another format and the only thing i did diffrent was to install MS updates before i installed SP1 iv had 2 days of non stop sweet looking bf2 with a mix of high and mid settings.

hope this helps someone out there cuz ur missing a great game.

if you need to know any other details of my system just ask

Your PSU is a peice of crap. I'm surprised the 6600GT isn't throwing a fit. Consider upgrading to a 400+ Watt PSU.

It must be a very good PSU then because that's low for todays standards.

Yeah a 550 can carry a 7800GTX as of right now. Unless you plan on in the future of running dual 78's. I feel your pain of having a 5200. I use to have one back in the medal of honor days. Horrid card.

yeah the 7800GTX looks good but im gonna have to stick with the 6600gt for now it gives me what i need to play bf2, maybe il look into more upgrades next year but duel 7800GTX's sound sweet but im all spent up on my upgrade budget for now:cry:

as for the fx5200 it did get me by and it managed to support duel monitors so i could play bf2 (on low settings) on 1 screen and run bf2cc admin control for our server on the 2nd screen:blabla:

            :salute:
